I got a project for school to write a science fiction story and I need some tips. I recently read dune so I was thinking about some kind of world similar, 0one that once thrived and is now a desert. Anyone got any good ideas or tips for me?

The game Fallout is a very good example as well.

Yes definitely... other then that 1 protagonist would be a nice experiment to emphasize lonliness. Plus it would be cool to have some new technology. I always love thinking up random stuff like that that can go in a story...

why dos everything have to be bad in the future?
terminator, dune, matrix. its quite depressing. why do we humans think we will blow ourselfs up, do we hate ourself that much?

i like the star trek serie/films better. they got a bright future. with a great working form communism. everybody is healthy and food and water is abundand.
isnt that a far better future to imagine?

It might be a better future, but it isn't very realistic. And what can I say, I'm a sucker for wastelands. Creatures affected by radiation and dune buggies do it for me.
