Light Reading

Can't really think of a title for this one, anyways it's just light reading. I'll probably continue it so long as it doesn't get completely ignored. :P

No idea what the title is

Chapter 1:1

At night, the beach of DuLor seems like an almost otherworldly place. The surf crashes up against the beach, and the wind wanders through the rocks with an eerie whistle. The only illumination in any of the beach is the light of the moon. Today, even that was hidden by dark storm clouds. As the night drifted on, the moon peaked through the clouds and shot a white ray down to touch one of the highest rocks on the beach. The rock shone with the light reflecting off the moon, and it gave off some of its own light, reflecting off of its luster. The light it reflected gave it an almost unearthly look. A wave rushed to shore then and knocked over the rock, and the moon dissapeared behind more clouds. It was a thought provoking site, but not a single resident of Terra saw it.

Save for one.

"Interesting..." muttered Swar, looking from behind an oversized rock.

"Huh?" asked Ardor, turning around.

"Oh nothing, nothing," replied Swar, turning back to the task at hand. "We have to press onwards, or else we'll never get to Aureo by nightfal-"

"Dayfall?"

"Yes, dayfall, anyways as I was saying, if we don't hurry up, these stupid crystals will explode in the daytime sun."

"Hey, weren't you the one just looking behind the rock for like 10 minutes?"

"Uh, no. No, I wasn't."

"Then what were you doing?"

"I was, um, planning out a route." (Swar, in case you were confused.)

"Oh okay. So what did you decide?"

"I decided that we are going in the right direction and we should keep going in said direction"

"So in essence you wasted our time"

"Uh, no. But this argument is stupid and pointless. Lets go before the crystals seriously do explode."

"Sounds good to me." Ardor ran off. He had excellent night vision, so he could see exactly where the rocks of the beach were. Swar watched him nimbly jump between them, impressed. However, before he turned off, he quickly grabbed the weird moon stone. It wasn't bigger then a mouse, but it had unusual weight.

Ardor then turned back to Swar. He closed his eyes, since his vision during the night was almost useless. Instead of trying to pick out the stones, he let the stones tell him where they were. His mind constructed the scene as it would look in daylight ('good thing it isn't,' Swar muttered to himself) and he ran off after Ardor.

Ch 1:2

Swar ran on and on, and his enhanced perception realized that he was slowly gaining on Ardon. Then he realized something. He shouted to Ardon: "Ehy! Slow up a bit!"

Ardon called back, without slowing, "No!" He sped up.

"What the..." Swar muttered, and he ran to catch up with him. When Ardon was finally in earshot again, he shouted out, "Hey! Why are we running on these stupid rocks? We could be running on the grass over thar.." He considered making a gesture, but realized that Ardon wouldn't see it.

Ardon shouted back, "Cause of this!" and then he took a sharp right straight into the water and drowned.

At least that's what it seemed like to Swar, who's perception had just temporarly screwed up. Then he realized that Ardon was hovering on absolutely nothing, and he stopped out of surprise. Then suddenly, blocks started appearing in his minds eye. The blocks rotated and flew around and eventually formed the shape of a bridge stretching out over the water. He watched it shape with some interest, before realizing that Ardon had ran off again.

Swar then jumped straight for the bridge and landed on it. The bridge seemed to be made of flimsy wood, but that must have been wrong, because it seemed to stretch on for miles upon miles. Swar couldn't work it out, but he realized Ardon was way ahead of him and ran off. There was time to consider these things later; right now time was of the essence, as a small jingle from his pocket reminded him. There couldn't be more then 4 hours to sunrise.

Swar kept on running. Then he realized that he was closing in on Ardon again. He shouted out to him. "Hey!"

"NO!!" yelled Ardon.

"No, no," shouted Swar back. "Why did we spend all that time running on the rocks? We could have ran on the grass the whole time and then switched to the rocks when we needed to go over the bridge"

Ardon considered this. "I have no idea" he replied.

Huh? No one is going back in time, how did you get that conception? O.o

Other then that, of course the rock is suspicious. :P

What part are you talking about exactly? I don't think I put in anything repeating, unless it was a total accident or a memory lapse or something

Hmmm... the beginning is fishy. You KNOW that something wierd is happening to either Ardon or Swar. Or it could be both. @_@

Go further in the story. The plot is still clouded.
