Mordor from LoTR |

you made me feel like making a hugass volcano model (not because I have something against your volcano here, but I just want to make a volcano). And I shall do that. And animate grievous, of course. |

LotR FTW! Quite simple (the terrain) yet "exelente!" |

nice model, but the terrain is pretty empty appart from the volcano. also, i dont think that red tile fits with the mordor look btw, bara-dur is located on the edge of a vally quite near the end of one length of mountains, and is several miles from orodruin |

im not suggesting you remove baradur from the terrain, but to either take a shot of mount doom with the fortress in the distant background, or the other way round. i reckon that useing a much scaled down version of the model would alow you to create a terrain that looks substantialy larger than it is (even a 256x256 map wopuld be too small to accuratly represent this screen). while mordor is supposed to be empty, its not quite that empty. there are numerouse ridges and small vallys around baradur, and the remanents of old lava flows all about mount doom and down onto the plains |

a good choice for tiles is the dirt and rough dirt from ice crown, they are black and looks very nice, try it. |

then scale down mount doom aswell btw, the film is not an accurate representation of the books, and seeing as tolkien never gave the hight of baradur or mount doom, then it cant be said that it SHOULD be bigger but i will hazard a guess at the size of mount doom in the films, as pretty damn big, as its fires can be seen above the mountains of shadow. either baradur is a fortress significantly taller than any structure in the real world (doubtfull considering the size of the orcs shown on the battlements in the films), or that it appears taller as it stands on the side of another mountain (according to the books at least). but aside from all that, id still quite like to see some distant mountains, and more of a sence of perspective, as is seen in the pics i assume youre refering to also, if youre going for the look of the films more so than any of the other interpritation of lotr, then id suggest adding a thicker grey fog, or a deep red one. perhaps the light wind weather effect might work aswell |

it's based on the movie, wich is most logical sicne my Barad'dur is also based on the movie. I tried other fog and wind effect, doesn't look good. |
