Tiki's knight

This here is a lineart done by Tiki wich I thought it had a lot of potential, so I colored it (with tiki's permission). I'm not quite happy with it, dunno why. I used a technique I never used before, to see how it feels (paint b&w and then adjust colors & stuff).

By the way, I video captured every step of coloring this in 2 parts, tell me if you're interested in seeing them.

Also uploaded tiki's original lineart.

Nice, what did you use to adjust the color? Layers, the variation tool?
I'd be interested in seeing your work.

nah, those black outlines were ment to stay. but how's the shading wrong? please express yourselves so I can understand. It may be wierd, it's the first time I use this technique so be gentle :P. But let me know what's wrong.

all in all, painting directly with color is better for me.

I like the "dirty" type of shading you put down on this one, and hey, if this is the first piece you've used your new technique on, it's even better.

some brighter ligting would do this well i think, darken mr. knight boy and brighten the sky, more like a siluette kind of thing.

I think that might be what he means with "wrong shading", the contrast in the backgound seems a bit... well not exactly off, but not as expressional as could be, perhaps. The contrast between the sky and background could be brought up some more, and the colors pulled together some more as well. Thats all i can say about the matter really :(

yeah, that's true. meh, this style of painting b&w and then adjusting colors is nasty, imo. I'm used from real painting to paint directly with colors and that's why I like paintin with colors better.
