Dungeon Master Mod Thief!!!

There is a guy going around US East with a game called RP_shade's DND..
it's exactly like the DMMOD with just a map change..
but instead of saying that it is..
he claims it as something he made and is going around bragging about it.

please look into stopping this obvious theft of something i know you guys worked damn hard on.

Try putting some copy protection into the mod, or at least make it harder to edit. For example, you could have something display a "This is Dungeon Master MOD" when a map begins, but in the code use like ASCII numbers for that string, so people won't be able to search the code for that string.

I can't really think of anything good actually because the mod's source files are open (i.e. in the Data folder), their format is text and is known and even if they were not open people could still go ahead and use an MPQ editor to get the files out, edit them, then put them back in.

The best thing I can think of actually is publicity and trademark, i.e. at some stage people will recognize the MOD and associate it with you guys.

Maybe a copy protection thread should be started.

It's a terrible thing that the map is being stolen. But I don't think it's all about having people know that you made it. Most the people who really appreciate the MOD know who the real creator is There isn't really anything we can do about it. WarCraft 3 maps are technically property of blizzard, and they don't have any rules against map theft (it would too hard for them to regulate such rules.)

well, the reason i found out, was that i had played Kooler's with him before and he was a good player..
but when it started, it was 100% your map, with a tile set change and stuff..
but like...it was obviously your map.
and i asked him and he said he made it..
but then when I called him on it, he said "oh my friend gave it to me"
lmao
and I said, you better stop playing with this map, i'm gonna go tell these people..
and then i did..
but i haven't seen it since..
so maybe he did..
or maybe he just sucks as a DM

there is another person who did something simeler to this. There is this guy in this channel Godly Mod Maker in useast. He uses bot and serously SPREAD our dmmod and he said he made the map. and i am like "You did? Can I play with you?" Suddenly he said "Yes" we played in game. I was waiting for people being ready. I saw the welcome to dmmod (c) Mikititan msg. After I used my other computer. which join the game. After everyone is ready. spawned. I whisper with my other comp he said His friend made the map, I whisper to my friend to ask. He said that he made it.

miki, I don't see anywhere IN the modded map that it gives credit to you guys, and if he tries to edit the map it should remove the mod, right? So if you put your name in the map then he can't take credit because he can't change your name to his without removing the MOD.
