Just some terrain i've done recently, I was working on a WT entry (the treasury) and had the idea to use a coin-looking tile, form mountains of it and add a glow (orange fog)... it looked pretty bad and the sky gave me hell (it was a treasury-planet see :D), so i stopped, but on the way i added some weather effects and the wind mixed with fog made a nice fire effect. Decided to test it out :D |

Nice effect, although the close up parts look perfectly healthy, not flaming. |

Orange fog + the Heavy wind weather and 2 mins of tree spam. I've seen better. |

What about telling him what he can improve, then? That post was pretty useless in my opinion. |

Never said it took me more to make this. Never mentioned I expect this to be voted best terrain ever. I just wanted to show off the effect I got. The trees close to the camera are still intact because the fire is still spreading ^_^. I tried to make it all on fire but I don't know how to make a fog that covers the whole area (and doesn't mask the trees completely). The wind outside of the fog (that's still white) looks like smoke as well, so it's not that bad, and imho the image looks more interesting this way than it would if it was all on fire. |

You could have added more, like ground lvl doodads, and ground lvl shots. Possibly some houses and an open area. I look down on the terrain because it is very boring, the effect is nice, but every time you find a new effect don't make a shoddy terrain like this. Make somthing nice with it, and then show it to us. |

I'll do that, I'll make a little village in one of them valleys. Tx for the tip =) |

Perhaps make something like scorched trees that you can replace the ones in the foreground with so it looks like the fire is spreading backwards? |

I'd say its awesome. Yes, its easy, but did you think of it? no. It's very nice imo. |

Holy SHIT that is nice. And I agree; don't knock it because it's not uber-terrain; he just wanted to demonstrate the effect. |

I have shots with this effect at home with red fog for an outland map I was working on but quit, it isn't anything new. I just diddn't post it because I thought most people knew of it. |

looks intense..only query is the lush green trees that are somehow burning.. you should concentrate on making the trees more individual..space em out a bit more..make hem taller..wider.. and impliment alot more dead trees...also flumes of smoke would look great other than that it worked..it loks like a large forest on fire.. gj |

I take it that none of you have read Bible Stories of Moses before? No really, I like the fog effect, looks great. But the trees. Since it is a forest fire, shouldn't some of the trees start to burn and die? But don't take my word for it, I suck at tarraining. |
