Tileset Bugs?

Well, a while back i created some custom tileset skins and used them in the cityscape tiles for one map. Now like a month later i have decided to use the cityscape tileset(coincidence all my other projects didn't need cityscape?). Anyway After going to File - New map and choosing the map size to what i needed and than going down and choosing "cityscape" as the tileset what do i see? Well i see the little boxes that show the pieces of the tiles are my skins "what? must be a small glitch, ill try it out anyway." Seems even without imported files the terrain has been transformed into the skins i had on an earlier map. so i go delete the map delete all the files that had to do with those skins(i didn't need them anymore anyway). come back try to remake the map and what?! the skins are still there? Without imported files and the skins not even located on my computer they still show up as if they are part of the terrain? I tried making this map using WEU and the create map function just to see if it was just my WE bugging or something BUT the same thing happened. WTF? is something messed up in my mpq? or what? i really need to figure out why this has happened.

When you test the map do the tiles appear as your imported ones or as the default? This happened to me once when I replaced the footman skin with something else, but in game it always looked the way it should. Reinstalling War3 should fix it if the WE appearance bugs you. (Make sure to back up your maps!)

Did you use local files? (instead of importing, stiking em in the WC3 directory in a sub-directory inorder to be able to use them locally untill you wished to import em.)

If not, reinstallign would be your best bet.

Check your warcraft folder. If you set up paths to files in there (ie. create a units folder in warcraft and put a unit's skin in there), world edit will draw information from there. However, when playing the game, it draws from the mpq itself, and since you didn't import it, it shouldn't be in there for this particular map. I hope this helped.

no i did not actually test the map. so you might be absolutely right about it just being an appearance bug in WE(i can live with it...last time i reinstalled war3 i lost all my maps XD rather not re experience that)

well I have a similar bug but I dont think its the same one.

If I open a map with custom tiles, and then open another map without those tiles, then the other map will show the custom tiles from the first map in WE, but not in-game.

Well, Taur. Yor problem is that the WE doesn't reload the tiles when you open another map.
From what I've read it happens for map-maker all the time, so that's indeed a bit different.

Tim.
There are two possibilities that come to mind:

1) Check in your Program Files folder for Warcraft III, inside it you may have a relative path for textures, one of which being for terrain, cityscape, and specifically that tile file. (If you know the filename of the messed up tile, just run a computer-wide search for the file name and see if it is still on your PC somewhere)

2) When importing files and exporting, you might have accidentally IMPORTED your custom skin into the MPQ instead of EXPORTING the original or something like that. In which case open the MPQ, find the correct terrain blp, and see if it is indeed the custom file.

Tell me which one it is and I can help you further.
