TBB Campaign

Whitehorn
Whitehorn seeks person(s) to assist in the creation of a campaign. While he would love voice actors, sound engineers, 3d animators and so on, they're not a priority.

Formost, an active terrainer is required to compose map scenery for the campaign's missions.

Additionally, anyone with good story-developing skills and/or plot development would be fantastic to help establish and evolve the plot.

Purpose of the Campaign
The campaign aims to consolidate the collective unreleased (and some released) works from recurring projects, such as The Abyss, Black Book, and War of the Races, to release a 'compilation' in the form of playable missions. It introduces aspects of each incorporated project, to explain my ideas and plans for each, but as a single entity.

Environment
The Warcraft world is in question. This campaign takes the world we know as Azeroth and introduces new races, characters and monsters. It is an adaption that plays on the game's existing, rich, background and history.

Plot
This story takes place in and around Northrend. The approximate era predates the empowering of the Scourge and the demise of Azjol-Nerub. Nerzhul is recently transported to Azeroth, instigating his campaign to enslave the natives of Northrend. An enigmatic cabal of elves, native humans, blood satyrs and even a break-away faction of Orcs are all unwillingly flung into perspective.

Who wants eye candy?

Sounds promising, I haven't seen any decent campaigns around since the Dwarf one, and even that could go with some improving.

I would love to help. I am exceptionally strong in plot development. I can also do some voice acting (I am strongest at doing ghosts/undead) and ofcourse can do a fair amount of GUI.

I will PM you with a voice sample, also, can you please delve into the story a bit more?

Thanks,
d3v1lish

Note: I absolutely cannot do terrain. Sorry for any inconvinience.

As already said over MSN, if you feel you're ready to handle my critique, I am happy to give it, as well as creative ideas. Might even do some real work once I have more time in a few months. :) Never did voice acting before, but there's a first for everything.

I dunno about you, but I am itching to get started on this project. Seriously, there aren't enough good campaigns going around.

Although i don't usually think about stuff like this it sounds like i have some skills that might help you.

Firstly i am (i think) quite a capable playable-map terrainer, although i haven't attempted much cinematic terrain.

Secondly, i am a capable writer, although it is difficult to provide examples! Let's just say i'm well read with a good grasp of the english language.

Lastly i am relatively familar with programs like photoshop (although i use GIMP) and although i can't skin i AM capable of stuff like simple recolours and edits.

EDIT: and of course i have good knowledge of the object editor and GUI triggering.

Anyway, here's a few screenies of WIP terrain (from a current pet-project of mine), they aren't wonderful cos the maps like 10% done but they show that i can do the basics, (doodad use, height manipulation, tile variation etc). Oh, and appogies for custom doodad use, i just like playing with them!

I am happy to help in anyway i can.

I agree, but if there's no time, there's no time. Besides, such a project isn't done overnight, so I might get the time to help it yet.

Here's some quick, initial thoughts on what I would consider a good (warcraft-based) campaign:

Two elements I liked a lot from blizzard campaigns and thought they were underused were 1) explorable maps with plenty of secrets, like the initial levels of the Night Elf expansion campaign with all the blink-to places, or the blood elf dungeon mission, and 2) very dynamic and challenging missions that really need you to think on your toes and play fast, like you would in a melee game, like the final undead mission in the expansion (that one was a real gem). You can't really mix the two options, because the second one would give you little time to explore the first one, but each mission should one of these two designs to make it interesting.

As for what I dislike, it's the style of the Orc expansion campaign, or should I just say Diablo style. Mowing through respawning creeps all the time in order to slowly level up is not my idea of fun, and the design was lame as well (the stats of all units went way out of proportions in order to accomodate for higher hero levels, and in the siege of Theramore many more units were killed in-game than for example in the last RoC mission in the supposedly epic defense of Mount Hyjal).

A Warcraft campaign should be a RTS with RPG elements, not a hack&slash "RPG".

An example of the sort of style Anitarf is alluding too is RazorClawX's (on CampaignCreations) long standing campaign, it had lotsa story driven "RPG" style levels mixed into classic build and destroy scenarios, really great stuff.

Help's that the guys a machine, been cranking these things out (we're talking 4, ~10 map campaigns) since the early RoC days, hope to see book 5 soon, too.

I always look up to Blizzard above all else. They did fantastic campaigns. The only thing I disliked was that the last missions were hard. Not that I think they shouldn't be very hard, but I have only beaten the Battle of Mt. Hyjal once without cheats. Defending a tree from a level 10 overpowered hero plus a seemingly endless wave of undead and demons constantly being summoned, it isn't my idea of "hard".

The Orc Bonus Mission was good, and bad, in many ways. Like Anitarf said, it was all just Hacking 'n' Slashing through hordes of boring, generic creeps. Who the hell wants to rape centaurs for an hour long? Seriously...

I'm in, as has been said on MSN, but I may as well make it official.

One thing this definately needs. Sick amounts of wicked cool jassed up spells. I can do jass and whatnot, maybe a LITTLE bit of terrain, though I can't promise how good it would be, but I can give it the ol' try either way.

I'd offer my services if you ever need them, but I'm afraid I might be a little too busy myself with everything I have going on... I can imagine it would be fun to make a few little puzzles and mazes in the first part for the ruins of the Nerubian kingdom.

Could make this into something really decent... which I'd be looking forward to if it ever came close to release.

I'll do voice acting, it doesn't require me to dedicate a huge amount of time to the project, which is good. I can do just about anything, from WC voices to completely random crap, though i can't do women (yet)

I can help you with the story, just need something from the current one.

BBDino, that a lil tooo blue,.. but nice doodad work.

I am currently detailing the campaign's plot - though not fine lining, as I will present the document to a few people to read through, comment and adapt before setting it in stone.

A few things are certain though:

The player will be in primary control of a single hero initially, and progressively grow influence over a human force in Northrend. These are native humans, not those who could be described as Azerothian (continent).
