Adding orbs to model?

I need to add the orb of fire, frost, and lightning to a unit, without using the orb's abilities. (i want the orb's floating around the person) what do I do? If I need to make a model, then could someone do one for me? I don't know how to make one, and I'm terrible at computer drawing anyways.

attatch through thriggers or a dummy sphere or aura ability.

I haven't a clue how to do any of those, sorry I'm not very advanced in the editor, so this will be kinda hard for me. Which is the easiest? Oh, and I;m not using Jass on this, before you give me a long Jass command line

Tim.
No JASS necessary. This is basic Object Editor fun, I'll move this to the proper forum since I do not have time right now to explain in a clear simple way.

You could attach a special efffect to the unit's head. However, the best way is to use a sphere ability. It has no icon and you can attach models and various attachment points. Just base the spell off of sphere and replace the model. Then add this ability to all units that you want to have it floating around their head.

No, don't use Sphere. Sphere has this annoying effect that the SFX's 'die' every time the unit attacks or casts a spell.

Instead, use Tornado (Slow Aura) set it's targets to None and make its AoE 0, then make your SFX's in its target field. Slow Aura stacks indefinitely, has no side effects what so ever and has no icon, its the perfect SFX ability.

A matter of opinion if u ask me. I personally think it would look cool if the blue orb surrounding the unit disappears as it attacks, kinda like the actual orb was thrown at the attacked unit.

Depends on the SFX you use, sometimes it can look really stupid if the SFX has a really noticable death animation and it just vanishes for no apparant reason.

Very true. Course, he simply wants to have orbs around the target and all the orbs I know of would work fine in this case.

As in the orb effect that appears on a units weapon when it holds an Orb (Fire, Ice ect)?

In which case, they have a death animation and if all the orb is doing is floating around its gonna look kinda dumb for it to suddenly vanish every time he attacks.

But just as bad when it dies anyway...

Ok everyone, thanks for the help. Let me clear a point quickly. I want the orbs floatying around the weapon, like if they hsad the item. I don't want the hero to have the item tho, or the effect. Just the orb. That help any?

cant you just edit an aura change the targets to Weapon, the model to the orb? (question to others as well)

If you want it to look like they have the item, use my idea and set the target to "Weapon"
