Guest | I apologize. I'm pretty sure this has been talked about before. But I simply can't find anything on the subject using bridge, bridges, doodads, or destructable. Bleh! Anyway, I've got a bridge in a map. I set it's life to 1. I set it to vulnerable. I've targeted the ground on top of it with a unit using an artillery attack doing like 1100+ dmg (with splash dmg!), and the thing just sits there and you can continue to walk across it. Do I have to use a certain bridge? I think I remember noticing that not all the bridge doodads had death thingers. Or is it supposed to just disappear when it dies? I'm clueless here and could REALLY use some help. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Take care. |

Is the bridge a destructible doodad? I think you will have to put the image on a unit, and kill the unit then the bridge will disappear? |

Hmm what happens when you do put a Bridge Image over a unit image can units still walk over the bridge? I don't think so I'll have to try later tonight, unless of course somebody anwsers sooner. Thanks |

Guest | No, you cannot give a unit the model of a bridge and then have things walk over it. Heh. But that gives me an idea. I can place an invisible (or nearly so) unit right under the bridge, and when the attack goes off the splash dmg will kill it. I can then detect that unit dying and manually (via triggers) destroy the bridge. Thanks. I'd still like to know how you can destroy [certain] bridges! Care. |

Ah nice work around |

IIRC, being able to kill a bridge with a unit like that was a bug and was 'fixed' by blizzard so that the only way to kill a bridge is by triggers. |

No you guys all have it wrong. Destroying bridges was put into WCIII on purpose. It later was deleted from the Stromguarde map -- but only that map! For balance issues. I was deeply depressed, I know. My chief strategy on that map had been to kill their and mine bridges so they couldn't do anything without air. To kill a bridge, take a mortar team or meat wagon and order it to attack ground on the bridge. After taking a lot of hits, it'll go down. Fun stuff. |
