Would there be any interest in a mdl command line editor program? That thread about tools vs manual editing got me thinking about it and it seems like it wouldnt be too hard. You could open a model, write commands into a text box to change stuff about it, and then save it. There could be commands like "removeanim Stand -3" or "dupanim Walk as Walk Alternate" or "deletebone Head" or "copyanim on Bone_Arm1r,Bone_Arm2r,Bone_HandR from Attack to Walk Alternate" and stuff. So, should I do that, and if so what other commands should exist? |

If you did do such a program, you need to be sure to make it very user-friendly. Those of us who know how to do this stuff manually generally wouldn't benefit so much from such a program; however the users with little experience certainly would. |

Sounds like a plan, but once all the complex stuff is done why not just add a nice little GUI? The copying animations between bones and stuff certainly sounds like a good plan. Another command might be converting interpolation types; linear to hermite etc. *hint hint* Something to export skeletons to MS3D ASCII would be a godsend, my attempts have all failed miserably. :( |
