What are some good ways to come up with normal class names? (what i see as normal class names are something like you find in everyday mmorpgs[WoW, EQ, EQ2, Guild Wars, etc.]) I'm simply trying to come up with ideas for what classes I'll make in my map. |

Really, most class names used in RPGs, both MMO and not, are quite tried and true, which explains their wide usage and prevalance. In my opinion, using them wouldn't be questionable in the least. But besides that, a class name is just an explanation of what they do (Warrior, Mage, or in WC3 the Blademaster) or a general tagline bearing some relevance to their background (Priest, or WC3's Mountain King), or even some thesaurus or synonym-derived incarnation thereof. ...I can't serve up any more help than that, though. EDIT: Wow. That was fast... |

I really never liked the names Final Fantasy used. Edit 1: so its not a big deal If I used class names like: druid, paladin, hunter, warrior, warlock, etc...? |

Why would it be a big deal? It's not original and some people may not like the WoW tone those have, but it's your map so knock yourself out |

I've seen hunter and warlock in other rpgs. however they were boring rpgs but thats besides the point. |

For simple units it´s ok, but for heroes you have to be original ![]() |

(...stupid 600 second post delay.) With the exception of hunter and (maybe) druid, those class names are pretty much standard-fare...Though some synonyms never hurt no one. For instance 'Warrior' could be Fighter or Brawler or Swordsman or something, Paladin could be Holy Knight or White Warrior, and Warlock could be Necromancer (maybe; the terms can really vary by definition), Nethermage, and so forth...Or not. It's really up to you. |

All those names have been used in a bunch of games, but what you can do is give the a little flavor and that changes them, as in, Warrior of the Westlands or Wizend Mage or what not. While they aren't that original, those little changes help give your map a distinct feel and distance you from the time worn names issue Edit: Damn, fast responses :) |

I don't don't like those weird class names like holy knight, Warrior of the Westlands, Wizend Mage, White Warrior, or Nethermage. they sound all too weird. I'm looking for ideas more normal like warrior, paladin, etc... |

Then why do we need to help if you know what you want? |

Just take the stuff from WoW seeing as though you say you want things such as in WoW (among others) and when we give you more deas than generic WoW classes you say you want the normal ones. In that sense this seems like a pretty useless thread. |

I don't want to use these classes which will make it look like i ripped them from EQ, wow or eq2. but i don't want class names that are weird like white knight or knight of westlands. |

Those are examples, come up with some names yourself if you don't want to consider names that others suggest |
