I'm trying to come up with a complete tileset that allows me to make all of kinds of different types of regions(i.e. desert, swamp, snowy lands, barrens, etc.) If anyone how some ideas of what tiles i can use, as I'm having a hard time picking them out and keeping it balanced with the limit of tiles you can have. |

What kind of places are in your map? |

deserts, swamps, snow-covered mountains, corrupted lands, forests, volcanic lands, barrens, grassy plains, rugged mountains, etc. I rather release too much info about my map until its well underway. |

Okay...then you apparently need: Barrens Sand (Desert) Felwood grass and moss (Swamp) Northrend snow or Icecrown Glacier ice (Snow-covered Mountains) Outland dirt (Corrupted Lands) Lordaeron Summer grass (Forest) Dungeon lava (Volcanic Lands) Barrens sand and dirt (Barrens) Lordaeron summer again (Plains) And barrens again (Mountain) I'll let you in on a secret... the trick is to think of what the place should look like, and match a tile with it. |

Since you don't have too many tiles in your use you have to add lots of doodads instead - one / two tile(s) for each region should be enough if your doodad placement is good. |

What do you mean by doodad placement? p.s. almost each zone has an unique look to it. |

having several differant settings on one map will detract somewhat from the overall quality of the terrain. in terms of creating maps just for asthetics, having 4-5 grass tiles alone is advisable, so only having one or two will make any open areas of lanscape seem very repetative. this can be countered to some degree by useing the size one brush as much as possable, so that you dont have any one tile covering more than a 3x3 (or possably 4x4) area. Quote:
terrainers often use a LOT of tile variation to make up for low doodad dencity on larger maps. for example, covering an area with two grass tiles, then adding a thick grass tile over the top (in a chaotic a way as possable - size one brush) gives the illusion of hundreds of clumps of grass without useing any doodads. by placing doodads more in open areas and less clumped togeather, you might be able to break up the repetativness of single tile areas. youll either need to make this a small map, or accept that this terrain will be nothing impressive. btw, if you dont already have it, DL WEU and use the enhancer to get as many tiles in your map as possable. id also suggest getting a few of Nasrudins plant models as their larger and more detailed than any blizz plants, and have a fairly low filesize |

Else you can add tiles ingame, but that might be a little hard to work with in the WE |
