Skinning leaves

I'm trying to skin something into dead palm leaves, but I can't seem to make it look like them right. Is there any technique you gys know of to get a nice effect? Ill post a screenie of what I mean with my skin.

well, just look at some palm leaves and draw them, what can be so difficult? The things you did look like anything but palm leaves.

Looks like a fly's wings. Or Dracula's cape after being attacked by a bear.

make the rough jagged edges more pronounced with alpha channel ridges that run in deeper so as to be more noticeable during gameplay?
