What does AoS stand for?

I see all these "AoS" maps. What is it?!

It stands for "Aeon Of Strife" - a map a while ago which started a huge number of various clones, etc..

Basically it is used nowadays to refer to any map where you have a set format:
- hero characters for each player
- two computer controlled opponents (or more) which rush at each other constantly with respawning armies.

So you have asura's call, monster mash, aeon of elder heroes, aeon of strife, and rival nations all of which follow the basic premise of constant hordes of enemies rushing at each other while the heroes try and beat back the horde and destroy the computer controlled base.
