If we create a LAN game with a map larger than 4MB, the wc3 will not work on it, does anyone has a solution? PS:you are allowed to modify the war3patch.mpq or any other files. |

I suggest you to set the "allow local files" DWORD to 1 in the windows registry (assuming you have windows: hkey_current_user\Software\Blizzard\Warcraft) then place whichever imported file that takes such a big size directly into the warcraft folder. With this method you can have mp3 packs, model packs, skin packs, etc, stored in warcraft's folder while keeping the map at a reasonable size (<1MB for example), and allowing gaming through battle.net. Of course it implies that people playing have those files too. EDIT: I forgot to mention, as far as folder path goes, if your map references to something like war3mapimported\test.mdx you need to make a folder called wa3mapimported inside warcraft's folder with the test.mdx file inside. |

That will be a nice way, but not the best in my mind. I have heard that by modifying some mpq files, can you play large maps on LAN, is that true? |

You said 'I was allowed to modify war3patch.mpq', so I assumed you want to play inside a close group of people; if you were to be the one making the map it would be pretty neat because you people wouldn't be forced to download the whole thing 4MB again all the time but rather the small script update or so. |

LAN and Battle.net are different. If you want to play War3 with your friends in the same room with physically linked computers, then there’s plenty of things you can do. However if you want to distribute your work out to other people for multiplayer play, or play it on Battle.net, there is no solution. |
