Are the tools compatible with world of warcraft? Or is it only for Warcraft 3 and addons? I want to make my own bosses or adjust chars in the game. |

You need to make your own server to do these things, and make an installer that puts the server location and the models so that people can see them ingame. Some tools will work and some won't, which tools are you referring to? To edit models you need to save them in m2 format. |

For the most part War3 tools are not compatable for WoW; the viewer and Art Tools for example. |

Latest mpq editors work well enough in WoW's mpqs. But there can't be anything like WoW modding besides interface design or if you make your own server (very illegal) there you have top 1 reason I don't like wow |

Well, you say with latest editors it can be done, then you say only user interface can be modified, which one is the correct answer? and where to find those editors? |

If you want to change how a boss looks like --> you use a model editor to make a new model --> you use a converter that can convert that model to m2 format --> you put all models in an extractable MPQ (with MPQ draft?) --> distribute that installer to the players of your server. If you want to change how things work in-game, quests, items, etc --> you make your own server --> you get a WoW server emulator (can be found online) --> you can then use whatever scripting language or interface that emulator provides to change stuff ingame. |

Thanks, this is very helpfull, i want to experiment with the options i have, but can you give me some more info about the tools i should you to edit the mpq files? Curently i have only 3dsmax 7/8, do i have to find version 4/5? i am new with this sorry for the noob questions, read some articles already, little confusing. Isn't there some free models on the net that you can import in warcraft? is it possible to adjust not onluy appearrence but also the spell that the boss uses? |

It is illegal to import anything other than the interface into WoW. If you do import something, then you can no longer connect to the servers. As such it's pointless to modify WoW's models unless you're making your own server, which is also illegal. Due to this illegal stuff, no there is no WoW model database, because, of course, they would be entirely useless. |
