I wanted to make a front mission game, this would involve quite an interesting idea I came up with for modling the units. The game would be hero based, and either an RPG or an AOS. The interesting part of gameplay follows: 1) the player can have 6 pieces, Arms, Legs, Body, Weapon(L), Weapon(R) and Backpack(or Shoulder). Naturally this would determine the HP, armor, and attacks (target abilities by clicking the peice then the unit). Hero Abilities would give things like Rapid Fire, Double Shot etc. 2) All the heros would be based on the SAME MODEL! That is each part individually is modeled (1 set of legs, 1 treds, 1 inverse legs) and the item attaches the modle to the corresponding part of the empty model (or maybe that grayish looking skeleton that is underneth the armor). This would look very cool, and would serve the purpose of populating the game with the mechs due to the major lack of robots in the databases. 3) The game is completely do-able. The important thing that would set this game appart from other games is the modeling, so that is what the focus will be on. If anyone wants to join and try to get this going contact me at [email protected] in addition to posting here. I have mostly triggering ability, but can terrain decently. If people want to get together and make this, any position is open, but we can start before having them. The only position that we need at the start is someone to moddle the pieces for the mechs. There are plenty of pictures online, if you don't have the game, and remember: they don't have to resemble the pictures in the game, they will just give you ideas of what to make and how to make them look. |

I think it sounds great. Ont thing though; any chance you could instead of making a brand new RPG, offer your help and brilliant modelling ideas to a promising RPG in progress?.. I guess the problem is I don't have a clue how this idea of yours really works, I guess it would crash with most other RPGs... :( Edit: Any chance you could show us some examples of this hercreation? Well, the best of luck to ya mate! ~ Aray |

I don't think I can upload a picture directly to here, so I'll just ascii it. _______ . Over Head _______( ) Head ______/_|\ __/ Weapon Hand /__|_\_/ __Body__|_+ _______| | _______| | _______ . Origion Extra lines are for spacing only. Take for example this hideous looking thing. Modles work using words to keep track of position of things. When a person casts Inner Fire the graphic is attached "Over head" to a point on the modle. When a unit has and Aura the graphic is attached to the "Origion" at their feet. And again, when a unit has an Orb of Fire, the graphic is attached to the Weapon. A modler would hopefully be able to figure out how to do this successfully without looking bad. Anyone who has seen Wc3 in action knows that the Orb of Fire isn't stationary but follows the weapon, turning when it does. Therefore the base model could basically be just a stick figure as long as the animation was correct. Legs would be the hardest part I think, but I'm sure someone knows how to do it. Did that help explain it? I also believe there are more places you can attach things, but I have never modled before. |

It's "Origin" and "Chest". But i think people get the idea :) Sounds like a very original and fun idea, keep experimenting! |
