Summary:

Abandon ORPG is set in the future on an unnamed alien planet, you crash land on the planet and find there are many civilizations but you know something is wrong. After a while you and your team decide to start traveling farther across the land and charting areas of interest, but you notice there are no living creatures around.

Features:

Evolving Hero: As you gain levels and more experience with the world your hero will evolve into something stronger.

Food/Water: You must find food and water to stay alive! If you run out of food your hero will become weak and eventually die permanently. You can hunt animals and retrieve water from rivers and the ocean.

Crystal System: During your adventure in Abandon you will come across many crystals that allow you to upgrade your equipment and save your progess.

Save/Load: You are also allowed to save your hero for different games, during a save you must be in a town or outpost. When you load your hero will return in the town or outpost that you saved in.

Pets: You are able to capture animals and train them how to do tricks such as Fighting, Healing, Exploring, and Stealing.

Dynamic Weather System: The weather will always be changing, from light rain to heavy acid fog that will rust and ruin your equipment.

Secrets: There are many secret areas including dungeons, equipment, special abilities, hidden pets, and much more.

Sign me up as beta-tester! :) I like how it looks, and I like the description. Is the evolving kinda like the Imagica RPG made by Taz?

The evolve system is based on skill level. There are 4 Magic skills, 3 Melee skills, and 3 Ranged skills. As you level them up higher your hero will evolve gaining stronger abilities and his model will change (just so you dont have to look at the same model all the time :). At level 50 you are allowed to choose a secondary class that is from another skill tree.

Magic users can pick from Melee or Ranged.
Melee users can pick from Magic or Ranged.
Ranged users can pick from Magic or Melee.

The secondary class skills will be slightly weaker than if you picked the class as a primary instead.

Im also implementing a monster evolve system as the Abandon world is set on a living alien planet. A herd will spawn basically and after a certain amount of time (2 night cycles) the teens and babies will evolve. Babies -> Teens -> Adults (wont use those names :)
The babies will follow the adults and the teens will randomly follow a baby or an adult when they spawn, they will also wander around to flowery areas (if they are plant eaters). This will allow for less trigger setups and more realistic alien world feel.

Well this sounds great! And I had an idea almost exactly like yours about creeps. Played Thang Online? That's where I got it from :) You have these tiny chickens that evolves into hasty roosters etc ;) I really like that.

Well then, can you link me (and Deitri I guess :) to the map then? And how will this beta-testing going to "work"? I mean, will there be scheduled times when we have to show up and beta-test with the others, or can we just play it singlelpayer and provide you with some constructive feedback later on?..

I got really sick 2 days ago so I haven't been working on the map very much.. this medicine im taking wont let me stay focused and I don't want to mess it up. I will add a link to the first post and allow for the map to be downloaded whenever I update something. Meaning when I do work on it there will be atleast 2-3 updates everyday. I'll also add a list of things that need to be tested and get feedback on. I might redo the monster evolve system slightly as I can't seem to get it work how I want it to but as it is now there wont be monster overpopulating but the triggers dont always complete. (Replacing last created unit doesn't work very good when you have alot of "last created units")

Deitri I have added you to the beta tester list.

Wont that use the first timer for the replacement and ignore the rest? I don't want them all evolving at the same time..

Maybe if theres a wait timer after the loop it would work...

That selects all the units created in the last 'create units' (BJ) function, and replaces them with whatever. Since I put no events, how would it be evolving all the time?

If you had it replace picked unit and the unit group checks for EVERY last created wouldn't that replace every unit matching the correct unit?

I might just use a var and have it check every 60 seconds to see if there are 10 of the current unit-types wandering around in the rect and if theres under 10 it will find a Teen and replace it with an Adult.

Edit- I have fixed the evolution/spawns and will be posting an updated beta map as soon as filefront re-enables the delete button on the file hosting. (No duplicate filenames ;)

Sorry for the double post, no one is posting in here anymore.

Anyway.. those that sign up for beta testing should contact me through aim, e-mail, and/or possibly ingame for future testing of the map. I really need feedback and any bugs that you might find in the map so I can clean it all up. There is an updated map in the original post for you all to download and test. Find low frame areas and post screenshots of them.

Most interesting on first sigth. I should examine it more closely later. Is that acid storm devastating equip already in this version?
