For a long time now I've been heavily planning my Warcraft III project, Shadows of Arimyth. I completed an alpha version a couple years ago, but I became heavily distracted with my Diablo II mod: Hell Unleashed as well as school. However I am looking back at restarting this project now. It is a campiagn style with in depth RTS style maps as well as Action RPG dungeon style maps. It has a very compelling storyline and has an intereting cast of characters which revolve around my world of Arimyth. However I need help, this is not a project I can do entirly by myself.. Mainly map terrainers and possibly for cinematics, as I plan to work on numerous and large detailed maps. Here is some of my character artwork for many of the main characters from my Shadows of Arimyth storyline. http://arimyth.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/artwork.htm All other material pertaining to Arimyth that is currently online can now be found here... http://arimyth.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/concept.htm http://arimyth.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/story.htm http://arimyth.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/world.htm http://arimyth.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/characters.htm and my forum can also be found here. http://arimyth.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/forum/ |

That's the only proper information we get about the map? You also haven't gone into any detail about anything, such as what you are actually capable of doing. Do you know JASS, and if not are you at least competant with GUI? What experience have you had in the past? Etc. Leading a project is a demanding thing, and people have to know you are able to do it. I'm slightly interested by the idea, but I need specifics before I enter into any map. However, having found you posted this on your forum: Quote:
You won't be counting me in. |

I'd rather have you creating a diabloII conversion for Wc3 :P But ok, let's see. It's going to ba a campaign, and this story of yours, is it made completely by you? No extractions from different games here and there? It's all yours? I presume it is, the artwork convinced me :) That's some very nice work, you should start posting pics here. Well then, after looking at your webpage it does look like you know quite a bit about.., uhm.., creating things... :D In multiple games, as well as on the paper. I must say I'm impressed! I guess this would be quite interesting, and it sounds like you've got a really good and solid theme to follow. Since there's nothing I can do to help you, I'll just wish you the best of luck :) Btw..: Quote:

I have a lot of experience with creation and development throughout many different games, currently Diablo II: HU is my most successful and widely known completed project, in terms of the Warcraft 3 editor I have a lot of experience. I did the Enhanced Campaigns package for Reign of Chaos, which added numerous features and improvements to the campaigns, and an alpha version of Shadows of Arimyth as a full action rpg "key board movement, manual dodging of spells and projectiles, and huge trigger driven boss fights" Over all I have a lot of experience with map modification, campaign AI, triggers, all the areas of the object editor. Where I real need help in are the areas Im weak in, such as terraining detailed maps from scratch, advanced AI feautures, and cinamatics that involve camera manipulation. As for full on details as what each map represents, I was going to go more into detail for those who express interest concerning exactly what the maps will be, there will be over 20 of em... Some very large. Some dungeons, with climactic boss duals similar to the ones that can be found in my enhanced campaigns, while some fully RTS. The campaign follows the adventures of two supreme Celestial's whose power stills lies dormant leaving them in a helpless state. They escape from the Celestial city during an invasion and travel to the realm of Arimyth where they choose to inhabit the bodies 2 of 8 fallen legendary heroes. Their epic journey leads them meet many interesting character and villains as they hope to muster enough power to stop a dark and terrible invading force and save their Celestial brethern. But I can publicly reveal the map layout of the campaign Alator "The Celestial City" (Escape from an invasion) - (Dalaran) Tomb of Heroes (Dungeon, choose your physical hero) - (Underground) Asteria Valley & Town of Liamus (RTS) - (Lorderon Winter) Tunnels of Brethern (Dungeon) - (Underground) Mountain Pass of Groharn (RTS) - (Northrend) Whiteheart Village & Slopes of Solamia (RTS) - (Lorderon Fall) Ruins of Solamia (Dungeon) - (Ruins of Dalaran) Bog of Lost Souls & City of the Dead (RTS) - (Felwood) Tower of Xeron Blackscythe (Dungeon) - (Dungeon) Country of Sylmian (RTS) - (Lorderon Summer) Sylmian Sewers, City and Castle (Dungeon) - (City Scape) The Howling Ether (Dungeon) - (Outland) Dramak Desert & The Oasis of Helisha (RTS) - (Barrens) Temple of Sand (Dungeon) - (Barrens) The Frozen Wastes & The Last Bastion (RTS) - (Icecrown) Glasya Castle (Dungeon) - (Icecrown) The Volcanic Wastes & Undervolk City (RTS) - (Dungeon) or (Barrens) The Magma Pillar (Dungeon) - (Dungeon) Nightvale Forest & Elven City of Valebrook (RTS) - (Ashenvale) Palian Coast (RTS) - (Sunken Ruins) Sealed Cave of Apostles (Dungeon) - (Sunken Ruins) The Blight & The Black City of Avarax (RTS) - (Felwood) Palace of Darkness (Dungeon) - (Black Citadel) Celestial Kingdom (RTS) - (Ashenvale) Alator (Dungeon) - (Dalaran Ruins) Twising Ether (RTS) - (Outland) The Celestial Spire (Dungeon) - (Dalaran) I have a concept design for the style, objectives, story of each map as well as a rough concept for the basic layout of the map. |

I've updated my initial post as well as my follow up post to include a great deal more information and detail concerning the project. Yes I am Soulmancer and that Dark Prophecy was a project I was concerding, but there are too many issues with a multiplayer campaign that I considering when I decided to turn my focus to the Shadows of Arimyth project. And Captain Griffen, yes that post was made by me, on my forum. I guess some people take that kind of humor a bit to heart but make no mistake I was and am still very displeased about Blizzard's decision to disable cache and map transitions in multiplayers, for whatever reasons, I cannot fathum why they would have done this... It makes doing a multiplayer campaign or series of maps quite difficult beyond a single stand alone maps, its a needless limitation. I had to dismantle an old project for this reason and was frustrated by this, on my forum I reserve the right to use whatever crude humor Im comftorable with it. I have a great deal of respect for Blizzard and what they have done. No need to quote me from a post made over half a year ago not even off this forum, even if it is the sole reason you wont help in my project. Some people take offense far too easily, but this point is entirly irrelevant to this project. |

Well I have completed the first map which is more of a complex introduction, I am working on the second now, perhaps when I have the third done I'll release it as a demo to try and rally support and interest, because as I said I really cannot do all of the map terraining by myself, its too big of a work load just for me considering Im working on everything else as well, having help with the maps would be a huge help in this project. |

This looks like another campaign with the style of the blizz orc bonus campaign in TFT. If you want help, you need to show work. so that people can see that youre capable of completing the project yourself. |

Yah I plan to do an unveiling demo after Im finished the first 3 maps as some work to show... And it is far different from the TFT orc campaign. Dungeon maps take on the form of a traditional action RPG, you play a single character "1 of 8 heroes" camera focused on you, no mini map and play through in depth dungeons with a rather intense combat engine that involves manual dodging of attacks and projectiles, you also have the option of keyboard based movement, and huge complex trigger driven boss fights. The RTS levels will be more traditional Warcraft 3 campaign style, questing, controling an army, multiple heroes, building a base, destroying enemy bases and combating enemy heroes in an unfolding story, but the levels will be a be larger and more epic then the WC3 campaign levels. |

For f*** sake show us whats its about the storyline, features something. This seems interesting but no one wants to join a project without knowing anything about it! Edit the links didn't work earlier for me, so now i got some information but still nothing about the features and screenshots |

Hey, I did provide all that information, but yes I have yet to provide screen shots... I have a question though, do you perfer visible aura's or invisible aura's... As thie story is centered around two major heroes upon your selection, each of them have a passive aura... Do you think the Heroes look cooler with visible aura's or is it more of an annoyance? |

If I can properly figure out my ai scripts and get a good inventory/equipment system implemented I'll try to patch up the demo of the first 3 levels. The prologue and first 3 levels are complete. 1 RTS level and 2 Action/RPG style levels, along with a cinematic level. I've had a couple problems with the ai of the enemy base in the RTS level, going to patch that up. Though I'd really like to implement and equipment system for the heroes... I need to test my familiar system a bit more. It's been over a year since I've touched the project, been very busy with school and patching up with Diablo 2 mod "Hell Unleashed" Is anyone even interested in this project? |

I... Partially am. I'd be one of the terrainers you need. I can give you an example of my work, if you want. I've never done campaign maps, however, but I do have the basic outline of how they work. All you'll need to do is specify what happens, like where bosses are, etc. I'll take care of the rest. |

Yah, totally... I am gonna play through the demo tonight and debug it. Then have a friend play through and report any bugs or balancing issues. it'll give players a strong idea what this campaign is entitled too. It'll feature two dungeon style bosses. |

Am I interested?: Yes. Can I help you?: No. 'tis a shame I'm exactly the type of person you don't need: a scripter who can't terrain for beans and has no ability as a modeler/skinner. Nice to see that you're still working on this because it shows that you actually do have a dedication for this project and you plan to finish it! |
