It is nice with a new contest, however, I do not like the topic at all.

I am sure it will be a challenge to make, but I would have preferred making something more Warcraft-related, since that is the game we are modding.
And there's plenty of good themes for a map contest that would fit better into the fantasy universe that Warcraft III is that could have been selected.

I also dislike that the rules are focused on the map being as identical as possible to the real game. It limits creativity. Something like Nintendo's Mario Cart or Azeroth Grand Prix would have been more fun, and allowed more creativity.

So yeah, I consider joining this, but I most likely won't - Never enjoyed sport maps in Wc3.

Loquacious as ever, Brett.

Sport!?

Tim.
I agree with Blade, if I enter I will likely throw a Warcraft spin on the sport - and of course no lame cliche sports.

No one said you can't have both in your map. Maybe a selection system at the beggining for "normal" or "Enhanced". Also, from what I've read, it can still have warcraft-based artwork so your creativity can shine there if you don't like my previous idea.

Whats wrong with basketball Tim.? Thats like the best sport ever made...being played...ever will be made. You mess with basketball - you mess with me

Sorry for the confusion. The map has to be based on a sport. The site will be updated later to change that.

If your creativity is so limited to football, basketball and soccer, then I do not know what you are doing in a modding community.

pwned...

Either way, it should be cool to see what maps get pumped out considering the lack of many warcraft-sport maps out there.

Robot AI battles are a proffesional sport aren't they?

I don't think I can enter, but if I have the time to make a sports map I am gonna give it a shot just for sportmanship

You agree? I said the rules were lame for not allowing 'Warcraft spins', and you want to make it?

If I find a sport weird enough, then I might enter, but I really dislike that it is judged on how equal to the real sport and real rules it is, limits creativity.

Artwork? Sure, but a nice map can't be made with only artwork.

I would consider entering, aside from blizzard's completely retarded agreements. 'Professional sport' is way wider than they meant, I reckon. Starcraft conversions, ftw!

Oh, and also, no map will comply with their rules. They said anything with any copyrighted material in it will be thrown out. All WC3 stuff is copyrighted. Also, anything you make automatically is copyrighted to you, having it officially 'copyrighted' is only so it can be easily proven.

I worry about the Blizzard legal team.
