WACOM's are fun.

First WACOM pic, and yes i chose to use this sort of swishy style.

and by swishy you mean extremely oversmudged? The whole thing feels verry rushed.

The highlights on the trees seem verry randomly placed, they dont seem to be coming from the moon at all. The sky itself is verry messy, why does it have a zebra-pattern? The wolf itself is decent, but the teeth stick out in a really odd way, too much forward. The red light from the canyon is a nice touch, but besides from the lighting on the wolf and cliff on the foreground, i dont really get the feeling the light is actually coming from the canyon. Intensify the light more as you get closer to the bottom. The human figurine is quite nice, but her pose does not really clearify what she is doing. Is she attacking it? Is she running to hug the beast? Who knows?

Clearly this work could use some work. Firstly though i would say, lay off the terrible, horrible smudge. From hell.

Whats wrong with the fangs is that they're so thin!
The fangs should be thicker at the base and generally get thinner and sharper.
Hey erwt, remember when Phoenix was the Spam King?

I totally beat you there, whore. Then you branched out into the other forums.

As Erwt said... Lay off the damn smudge. You have a wacom, smudge is not something you do when you have a wacom.

Check out TDR's brushing thing...

And this looks kinda like a scene from Gauntlet. I like the overall feel, just not really the technique.

Nice to see all the critisism, yeah, i do need to adapt my technique, but do bear with me, i've been using a mouse for years and it takes time and practice to erase that technique, i did only get the thing 3 days ago.

Chances are i probably will keep this effect, as it's for Art as a study on oil paintings, so i specifically chose a swishy, smudgey effect for this. Hence also the wierd highlights on the trees, which in many cases arn't actually highlights but are 'ghost lights' to give the background a more ethereal effect. I'm definitely taking Ewrts suggestions in particular to heart though, and for later pieces which are not studies on oil painting i'll try for a sharper image.

i agree. too smudged but lovly.
oh..and the girls shadows facing the wrong way, i think the red light has more power or priority than the moon light for the womens case..
er..hard to explain.

if you want an oily painting effect and a swooshy look then use Painter and it's oil brushes, just please try to leave smudge alone, because it's not appealing at all in the eyes of many.

Well i got perfect marks for this semester, so i'm guessing it worked :P

I think i'll definitely revisit this piece once i work out how to use this thing properly, i really like the concept and the 'feel' of the whole thing. Atm i'm basically doing a bunch of sketches, some of which i quite like. Any suggestions are appreciated of course.

Btw, as a side note, the stripes in the sky are for texture, it looked kinda flat and boring without them, so i started throwing in some shading, i made a mistake and accidentally caused the lines to go mad, and, liking the effect, i continued it :P
