I was passing by Linda's site today and I found this awsome...let's say tutorial, though it's not. It's particulary great for begginers and it's very well explained imo. Dig in.

Smudge doesnt produce good texture, all it is is just "thinning" out the colors, which is bad.

Of course Mr. Spackle is the best option for teh coloring. I mean Im sure skin and clothing is pretty textured, so yeah.

Looks like some one didn't even read the tutorial. She actually said smudge is a quite useful tool if you use it right
