Ive had a problem with range. I set the range for an archer's attack1 to 20,000, but when I test it, the archer's range is only 800. What's wrong?

Thanks for your attention.

Check the aquisition range? That could be it if your not order her to attack someone.

Iv had the exact same problem alot of times.

Back in the day when i tried to make a escape from hell maze thingy, i mad catapults with a range, i tried it ingame and they all shuffled about because they couldent reach the place i ordered them to attack, i had a look again, and the range was fine, i tried to change it constantly and nothing was happening, thats when i decided to stop making the map.
I could do nothing, i was locked out.

I know the post dident really help much, but atleast your not the only person with the same problem. (BTW it was a old version created game, i made it when i started wc3 and began finishing a year or 2 after)

Jazradel is right, you have to set the acquisition range to 2000 also.

Everyone seems to be missing the obvious.

There are three things that are required in order to set the range properly.

Range - Duh

Aquisition - as stated before

and Sight - if the unit cannot see his target then he will not attack his target.

make sure to set day and night vision to the same to avoid any problems

Acquisition range is key.

Nope, the unit doesn't have to have an equal line-of-sight. For example other units can serve as "spotters" for the long-ranged archer.

Ok, thanks guys. It works now. Now wherever any other unit is, they can shoot their lovely arrows.

The problem i had was not the obvious, i set the range and aquisition range, but if i hover over the Attack Button next to the units picture ingame, it still said Range: **** and dident change.
