Warchiefs [WIP] Introduction: Hello. I'm writing my map (under construction) idea because I would like feedback on it, if it's a good idea, if it's a bad idea, what I could improve or remove, etc. I'm open to every critic. Summary: Well the Idea is basic but I think new. It is a kind of melee game and a hero based game. How it will work? Simple, when the game start you will need to pick a hero from one of the tavern in the middle of the map (note that tavern are removed when everybody picked). After choosing your hero, this one will simply spawn in a random location on the map (The map is not big, not small, its a medium size). This random location is a good place to start but you will be able to change place if it's your wish. Your hero start with an item called "Starting Emplacement", this item is used to build your Town Hall, Necropolis, etc. Your hero has the ability to build buildings, only hero can build in this map but you can train units to harvest gold or wood or both, which are different from hero to hero even if you have an two undead hero i.e the "Shadow Lord" (Undead Hero) and the "Ancient Lich" (Undead Hero) have a different set of Undeads buildings. Your goal is to;
Killing other people is not the only thing to do in this game, you will have to capture gold mines, lumber camp, find items for reward (this one is not decided yet), etc. Features: Team: Progress: Terrain - Done Heroes:

Looks interesting. I personally am not a great fan of melee, but it is something a bit different from the norm, and that's good. Not sure how it will work out, but it could be quite fun. |

Well it souns pretty basic, but if you are going to create custom heros, spells, buildings etc. then it might be interesting. |

The skeletons will have their cost decreased and life decreased but they will have a spell that give them a ##% chance to rebirth after dying. |

Sounds good, I like how you didn't overcomplicate the buildings and units and stopped at 6 different units (you really don't need more, heck, you could do with less). With some good design, this could be neat, especialy the dividing of each main race into factions gives some interesting ideas. The lich faction sounds great with it's skeletons, but perhaps you didn't quite finish that idea; you could have a skeletal mage instead of a necromancer. As it is, the faction appears kind of in-between the "all units are the same as other UD factions except the special unit" and "all units are uniquely themed for this faction". I say make up your mind to follow one of these two concepts, don't stay in between. The Shadow lord's basic unit roster seems less interesting, he just has the basic mix of Warcraft's undead units; they don't fit together as well as the skeleton crew. You should either go for an all-neirubian crew, or stick with the same UD basic units as the other two UD sides. Here's a nice design system idea: make the three basic units shared for all three heroes of one race, make the two advanced units shared by 2 heroes, while the special unit is unique for each one. That way, you would have 3 units of each kind, basic, advanced and unique. |

Sounds promissing. But like Captain Griffen said... I don't like melee maps too much either. But I'll be sure to try it when it's done. Keep us updated! |

I like the sound of this map, if you need any help on heros/ units I would be glad to help. Edit: hmm...must be blind or something, i completely missed the hero post. |
