I have done all the steps, edited my skin when it was tga and converted it back into a blp. where do i put this blp file?
what does Cookie mean by "appropriate directory"?
at the moment my edited Witch doctor skin is lying in the Wc3 dir. I havn't checked whether it is working but i doubt it. No offense to Cookie.

uhm, you place it in your map/mpq in the appropriate directory... he means the directory where you extracted the original BLP.

lets say for example your witchdoctor...
its found in Units\Orc\Witchdoctor\Witchdoctor.blp
so, you take out your winmpq (or mpq2k), open the w3m or mpq file you want your new skin to be placed in, then add your new skin. After that, winmpq will ask for the directory (the one above)... there you go!

im not very good with english, so bare with it.

Icon editing works the same way as skinning.
Anyway, I think these questions should go to the Skinning and Animating Forum!

I'll check it out, so i open a map (w3m i think) then add my edited skin (blp). Then it asks 4 a dir. well anyway thx 4 the help, i have WinMPQ so i'll be fine.

I will change my icon editing thingy to 80% if you like.
actually if this works skinnig and iconning will be 100%

this is what i did.

1. open WE.
2. make new map
3. save make as skin test
4. open WinMPQ
5. open skin test in WinMPQ
6. add WitchDoctor.blp (edited one)
7. message appears to say "you need to put in path of original image eg: file name = title.wav, type in music/ and it will become music/title.wav"
8. I put in units/
9. it becomes units/Witchdoctor.blp
10. I open skin test with WE
11. nothing has changed
