Connected in render?

I've recently been told that when you make a render something animating while parts are connected, that they wont be connected in the render. Is there some setting to make this possible? Or something I have to download?

This is in in 3DsMax5 of course.

To be honest you may be best off exporting the model to .mdx and recording the animation as played in Magos/War3 Viewer. That's what I've resorted to.

What program do you use to record then? I've tried Fraps but it only seems to work in games.

Does work. I export as frames and use Gif maker/animation shop.

I export them into about 52 images, I'd have to CnP all of them into one ImageReady file to make a gif, and then make 52 frames manually. Isn't there an easier way?
