Starting an Official Mapping Team!

I want to actually start a Mapping Team. A team that will have a name, maybe even a logo and we will make maps of course. I want to start this team this summer, and I want to coordinate it. The first objective of the team will be to finish the Contra project. After that we'll start something else. Managing projects will be about getting together in a channel or msn or something to discuss the map, assign duties, testing the map, and such and such. I think the progress of making a map can be much faster and sport better results if we work in a team rather then doing everything yourself. If anyone here is interested, PM me, email me at [email protected], or just post here. I can't be online until summer which is like in a week or 2 for me.

I would really like it if anyone here can join my team. My hopes in this team are to make great maps. I don't know how often people actually work in teams or mapping groups, but I really want to get this going. Hope you consider joining. I think an official mapping team will hold many great opportunities!

I could join to pitch in with some terraining and ideas, triggers aswell but it seems Tidehunter already is quite capable of doing that so I would mostly be needed to terrain and get ideas I guess.

Note: I cannot terrain full time as I am already doing that for a few other projects but I can still do alot + I have a good imagination so I get many cool ideas (if I should say so myself :P).

Hope to hear from you soon.

You don't exactly give a lot of details here. Who's going to impose the basis and theme of the map? You, by any chance? Or will each project be decided on through votes? I know certain people (myself included) would hate working on an AoS, but would appreciate developing original ideas. What are your criteria for letting in new members? Again, can the coordinator alone forbid a new team member's entry, or is it all voted on? And how much skill would every member need, how much experience, in order to be taken in?

What do you prefer the members to use, JASS or GUI? Having half the team build JASS-based spells and game mechanics, while the other fiddles with the GUI, can lead to a great deal of confusion and inefficiency. Likewise, having more than one terrainer on the map might really be a problem if their styles conflict.

You mention Project Contra, which I see you've been trying to recruit for during the last several months, but provide no link to the details of this project. I had to look through the forums, using the search function, just to glimpse it. A link to the project's main thread would really help. Also, you mention you're trying to finish it... How far along the project are you? Will new members be required to research the systems you've already put in place before adding their own content?

i would really like to join,
I'm best at GUI,
I'm OK at terraining, although i cant make places of your dreams kinda thing, only basic stuff.
i can do basic skinning and modeling, which uses taking bits of blizzard models and sticking them all together.
I'm good at editing units/doodad data in object editor, all in all i am very committed and am imaginative, and love world editor, i am always keen to help.
