Detailed Naga Strategy

Mystic Prophet
The Naga strategy largely depends on what naga you are. but We'll cover the basics first.

>>>>>>>>>>CHOOSING YOUR NAGA<<<<<<<<<<<
Many people overlook this part, but it is a pivotal step in any tropical tag game. Take a look at the fish that have been chosen.

REVEALING NAGA
If you see many frogs, crabs, and sea dragons, it might be a good idea to have at least one naga choose the sea witch or the crusher for their reveal abilities. If you decide not to have anyone choose one of those naga, then make sure the team is equiped with flares.

HUNTING NAGA
the other three naga are more equipped for direct assault, including a revenant, rock golem, or sea giant, can help to kill a fish while he's still "safe" inside his base.

>>>>>>>>>>>>THE INITIAL HUNT<<<<<<<<<<<<

NAGA TRACER
As soon as the game starts off have one of the naga use the tracer and follow it to a fish. then you can move off in a different direction and use yours to try and find a different fish. repeat for each naga on your team. the faster you catch some fish the faster you'll have excess to higher levels and gold for items.

GO FOR THE FISH, NOT THE BUILDINGS
At the start of the game, you'll take forever to take down corals, so you'll want to go after the fish and ignore the buildings for the most part. if a fish is holing up inside some corals and has several escape routes, enlist the aid of one of your teammates (that team teleport item is useful) to trap the fish and capture him.

>>>>>>>>>>>>ITEM BUILDS<<<<<<<<<<<<<

As with the fish, the naga have two primary item builds. one set is based on snatching fish from out of their bases, and the other is based on preventing fish rescues. but there are a few items that you might want to consider regardless.

The aura horn: this item is a real beauty. endurance aura provides you with a nice move speed for catching fish and attack speed for base killing, but the main benefit is in the brilliance aura. If you intend on using wards, reveal, or damage spells this item will be invaluable, get it early on before you've depleted your mana.

Immolation cloak: this sometimes isn't needed if you pump up your damage spells, but an immolation cloak will help you to destroy buildings and increase your gold flow. It has the added bonus of being able to kill burrowed and otherwise invisable fish without you even knowing they were there. Also effective against turtles and their improved armor.

THE WARD BUILD
If you're going for the ward build, then the aura horn is a must. wards cost 25 mana each to place down, so every time you place down all 4 sentries and the 2 stasis wards, you're burning up 150 mana. You'll want to have two naga using this build so you can have an extended sentry line of sight, and a stasis ward at each entrance to the mid.

Sentry wards: sentry wards are a must if you expect to win the game. you can only prevent rescues if you see the fish coming. buy these after purchasing an aura horn and set them a short distance from each entrance to the middle. whenever you see a fish moving in for a rescue, swoop down there and stop him.

Stasis wards: sometimes you just can't get to the middle fast enough. stasis wards will stun incoming fish long enough to capture them. If you're quick, you can catch them before they can manage a rescue. and if you happen to be far away, you should still be able to get them after only one fish has been saved. You can only have 2 stasis wards out at a time, so make sure you have a partner pick up some too. You'll want to purchase these after obtaining the sentries.

note: once you've finished your ward build you can go on to obtain a few hunter items, or you can buy tomes to beef up your level.

THE HUNTER BUILD
the hunter build is a bit more expensive gold wise. but luckily, you should be pulling in more gold than those using the ward builds. once again in a full house game you'll want to have 2 hunters and 2 ward builds.

Immolation cloak: this item is a hundred times better than a gloves of speed or a claws of attack could ever be. (it's also 2.5 times more expensive, but the cost is worth it) dealing 20 damage in an aoe around your hero will allow you to take down mass buildings quickly, thus bringing in more gold for other hunter items. (it also helps you to break into fish bases sooner and capture them)

fish hook: sometimes the cloak isn't enough. the fish has an escape route and your partner is busy with another fish. Or maybe he's holed up with attack towers. position yourself properly and fish hook him right to you. an exclamation of "wtf" usually follows at this point. let it be a point of pride for you.

Blink dagger: want to walk through walls like the revenant? or maybe your prey has eluded you and you need to get back out of that base quickly. The blink dagger is a marvelous tool that will alow you to "come in through the back" and take down the fish just when they think it's safe. after obtaining the cloak and the hook, this is the next item on the list.

note: after obtaining the full hunter set, you can purchase some ward items or buy tomes to beef up your levels

>>>>>>>>>>>TEAMWORK<<<<<<<<<<<<<
teamwork is essential to winning as the naga. if you've found a fish. wait till you have a teammate at each exit, and then move in for the kill. discuss with your team mates who is getting what naga before hand and then decide upon the item builds. if a fellow naga is having trouble with a certain fish, teleport to him and give him a hand. If you get a team that works well together, those fish shouldn't stand a chance.

also use attack move, and NEVER just sit near mid, its called camping and ruins the game for everybody, including your teammates, but especially for fish

and without teamwork your completely fucked, i know MP already said this, but
TEAMWORK IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF NAGA PLAY!
