Icons with Alpha Channel in Multiboard?

I found this old post here also posted in the trigger forums from 2003:

I want to ask whether someone found out a possibility or a workarround to use alpha icons in multiboards, for example to use round icons instead of those rectangle icons always...
Would be cool if it's possible anyhow...

I will try one last idea by making the alpha layer of the icon the same color as the alpha layer of the multiboard background,
so that the icon would be half-alphaed and who knows... perhaps then it works... but properly not...

EDIT: No, didn't work, the alpha turned black...
At least the icon can appear to be round if you use a black background for the multiboard icons, because they are so small.
I decided to use black background, looks ok!
