Hi there,

I just wanted to introduce you to my campaign-project I've been working on for over a year now. I think it's time to tell people and get some feedback.

Story: As you may have guessed my campaign will follow the storyline of Blizzard's book Day of the Dragon where the mage Rhonin is send to free the Red Dragonqueen Alexstrasza from her orc captors. It's set on the very end of the second war.

Of course my campaign can't follow the storyline 100% perfect, or else it would be a cinematic experience. Instead I had to cut some content and fill in new things so there are 8 playable maps (+3 submaps) and 3 cinematic maps (+1 alternate ending). You will visit famous places of the world of warcraft (I don't really mean the game WoW here) and maybe revisit some old adventures.

Besides the fact that I started this project our of boredom a year ago, the purpose of this project is to entertain people with simple things, except of course the powerful storyline. It will be a blizzard-style campaign, that means lots of creep-fighting and some base-building. No fancy features like an extended inventory, but there'll be new spells (from wc3sear.ch), items and Custom Imports (Models, Skins, Icons, Loading Screens, Music). There is one map where you avoid fighting for almost the entire time. Here you have to solve puzzles, combine items and stuff, just like in classic adventures.

Every map will have a special item your heroes can obtain, much like the artifacts from the bonus campaign.

There are 15 optional quests, the sepcial thing about them is you can complete every optional quest either "bad" or "good", if you are bad enough you will trigger the alternate epilogue that features an invented ending. How many optional quests you have to solve in bad mode has yet to be decided.

Another cool feature should be that before you start the journey you are able to pick one of three classes for your main-hero. As an arcane mage your hero deals much damage, but also takes damage accordingly. The Spirit Priest manipulates other units and is an excellent healer, the Elemental Mage, well, has classic elemental spells.

I just threw in a bunch om screenshots. Don't be too hard on them, some are really old :(

All maps, and triggers als completed. I just need to gather a few more custom imports from different sites, build in some of the listed features, fix bugs, translate it to german (sorry, but the english version won't arrive until the german is done) and test it. An ETA is difficult to determine, I'm on vacation from June 14th to August 5th. The campaign will hopefully be released around August/September (this year! yippie :D).

And for those who may have wondered, I AM the guy who brought you the Lord of the Clans, so know that this campaign won't just be a pipe dream (I hope pipe dream describes what I mean and I didn't just insult someone's mother... :P), I know what needs to be done.

If they are paladins, then they aren't sword brothers..they use mauls (or hammers, or w/e) not swords.
A LOT of screenies, but that's ok, looks very good.

Lord Jesus! Use Thumbnail tags for those screenies.

I must say though, those visuals look pretty nifty.

For heaven's sake, use thumbnails. Don't post 20 massive pictures.

World of Azeroth, you mean? The world is not called warcraft. Minor, I know, but if you're going to make a campaign set in the warcraft universe, you ought to know it's lore. Your English is lacking in places as well (I can spot several mistakes in that small collection of English text, such as 'wizards sends', where it should be send).

Richard A. Knaat is...?

There will be one new unit type you can build in your base you can see on Screen029.JPG. The (Dwarven) Fighter. Let's hope I come up with a cooler name in time...

I meant Warcraft. Warcraft as in "the world of the games that we know as the warcraft-series". Just like you wrote "warcraft-universe". But maybe there is a difference I haven't understood yet. Besides, on Screen014.JPG you can see that I wrote Azeroth, although this was just copied from the book :D But I do think I know enough of the lore, after all I am geek enough to create campaigns for the books.

I do admit that my english is lacking. but I haven't decided yet if want to hire a grammar and spell-checker for the english version. This is more complicated than you think: At some places I think Richard A Knaak, the writer of the original DotD-Book (where did the "t" come from?) did purposefully make spelling mistakes so it reads more like a story set in the Middle Ages.

Example:
"I pray that they will be enough. But I fear i will not be so. What say you, Rhonin? Will you do as they bid?"

It took me some time to convince people that "What say you" is good and "What do you say" not necessarily needed. Although, I still could be wrong...

(The "send(s)" that you spotted is actually irrelevant, this text won't be in the final version).

I added two more Screenshots. I would really to post comments under every screenshots but this doesn't seem possible when they are attached.

Funny, the only thing wrong in that quote is that you wrote i instead of it.

'What say you' is perfectly fine. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be down to a spelling mistake.

Looks pretty promusing, but you need a better model for that drawf, that schrunken paladin looks really horrendous.

World? So the outland has been wiped out of Warcraft now...?

As already mentioned, not a spelling mistake or grammar mistake, but perfectly fine, if a bit archaic, English (aside from the 'i'). In a campaign, grammar and spelling pretty much has to be top notch, so I'd recommend that you get someone to fix all the texts.

Looks promising though.

You're contradicting yourself now. Azeroth does not include Draenor, so what's your actual argument?

World does not imply planet. It can mean universe, such that WOW includes more than 1 planet.

oh yeah, just wanted to inform everyone that the campaign is finished and currently being uploaded (at rapidshare. I hope the admins at wc3campaigns.net will upload it here too if they are satisfied).

Now why am I suddenly so afraid that it will contain bugs... that I'll have to fix it and I'll never get away from WC3-Mapping. I already know what my nightmare tonight is going to be about...

WOW, I can't wait to play this, if it is as good as your Lord of the Clans campaign. I have read the books, and you did an awesome job of recreating them and telling them through warcraft 3. While at first glance I thought it would be a book "themed" campaign, being an unoriginal map with renamed units, those doubts were shattered after seeing the first cinematic. Although there were a small handful of differences from the book, those are to be expected. Exceptional job on the map.

Nonsense paladins have be classified in many RPG's specilizing in Swords(Diablo 2),Hammers(Warcraft 3), even archery(Tibia).

Paladins with hammers comes from the Catholic Church not wanting to draw blood, so riding to war with blunt weapons.
