I've been talking to Ralle, and we agreed on getting you hosted at the hive.

However, i thought you were going to make the project from the beginning, not base it on another map.
Also wasn't there other team members? ragspeed, emjlr3 and Orc_Tamer and me (or havn't they joined officially yet?)

This is something I am doing on my own as a sideproject.

I am still doing the TD with you, emjlr3, orc, ragspeed etc. and that will be the focus of my time.

This is simply something to keep me busy when not working on something else.

I am hoping to learn some JASS from this process as well.

Tim.
So you're taking someone else's map, polishing it up, and re-releasing it? Do you have his written permission to do so?

No, I do not. I have tried emailing him and contacting him on bnet, but haven't been able to get ahold of him. Also, sufficent time has passed since his last release, there is no doubt that he has stopped working on the map.

And before anyone says it, I am not STEALING the map. I will not be putting my name in place of his under any conditions. I fully realize that it is HIS map and that I am simply updating it. I really love this series of maps and I was not able to stand idle while aware of the problems the last version had. Thus, I decided to take this on as my sideproject.

Well, I haven't gotten anyone to email me at all. I have just been relying on suggestions I get from friends online and my own sense of balance.

Pity though, I would have liked to hear other peoples opinions but people are too lazy I guess.

3.5 is out. I dled it from sear.ch.
Btw Karawasa I think even though he won't respond to you, you should leave the map as is. It's his work after all.

- I don't really agree with that. Everything to 2.5 was his work, fine. As long as Karawasa very clearly states that what he submits is all MrChak's work except from what Karawasa changed, then I would be more than pleased to get a fixed up version, something I think many others would and will be as well.

[ Edit: And what do you mean 3.5 is out? I can't find it anywhere... ]

Any version after 2.5 is not made by MrChak. This I am positive of.

There is no 3.5...

Aray, when can I expect to receive that list of suggestions for 3.0?

And Undead, that is your opinion, I respect that. However, I see no reason to stand idle when I can improve a map. Silly to let petty ethics make do the downfall of a great series. Besides, its his fault for not checking his own damn email. I would expect no less of myself. When I release Tropical Tag 3.0 and if I fail to check my email, let that wanting person edit the map if his intentions are good.

I have never played Element TD, but your plans with it sound good. I am, however, a little bit skeptical regarding the original author's permission... I would expect that if he didn't reply to you his answer would be no.

That is perhaps true, but it seemed more likely to me that he simply has left the War3 scene completly.

I mean, it takes about two seconds to hit reply, and type no. Thats all he had to do if he didn't want me doing this.

And yes, progress is going along very nicely. In fact....

Enjoy the first public beta. This is not the first Beta in case your wondering, its about the 10th. All the previous ones have been played by friends of mine or friends of friends.

This is a BETA. If you find a bug or have a balance concern, EMAIL ME. [email protected]

Thanks

PS: EVERY tower has seen a change in some way. Thus, don't be afraid to get something, for fear that it sucks (if it sucked in 2.5). My goal was to make every combination viable IF played right. Also, the GAME IS HARDER. Creeps have more armor, so you will have to play smarter.

I guess you're right. Anyway, I'll download the map and give you a review ;) .

EDIT: Here it is...

Single Player Review

Keep in mind I never played the original, and since you made the version 3.0, I presumed some massive changes where at thought. Anyway, here goes, presuming you were going to edit it majorly...

As soon as the game begun, I was very confused. I didn't even know which hole the creatures came out of! So, after building some towers, the first level begun. Even though I had the best I possibly could of, I lost almost half my lives on the first level. Although I was the only one playing, the Difficulty was on "Very Easy". So after the first few levels I got the hang of it (very little explanation given, and in a Multiplayer game you wouldn't have time to open up the Info page) and started to do well.

I used a relatively odd strategy; building up on Cannon Towers. It work incredibly well, and although things were tricky, I was doing alright. It all went downhill at level 30, where all of a sudden I started losing. Earlier I defeated all the creeps at around half way through the maze, but now I could barely kill them all. I lost at level 37 after running out of room.

Good
  • Fast paced, energetic and very fun
  • As far as I know, bug free

Bad
  • Levels 1-3 and 30-35 were really, REALLY hard.
  • A few creep name typos

Suggestions
  • I think you should add a message every time you get a lumber, as I often didn't notice when I got one.
  • Not sure if you can, but consider changing the Lumber image, name and description, because "Lumber" has no real relation to what it is used for.
  • As mentioned in the bad, you should consider making those levels a tiny bit easier.

Thanks for the review. I will indeed add messages when you receive lumber/pure elements etc. It should have been doing that already but apparently thats bugged but a very easy fix.

Glad you liked the map btw.

What creep name typos?

EDIT: Let it be known that I now have the blessing of Mrchak, the original author. All of you people bound by silly ethics, put aside your qualms.
