Well? Any Ideas?

Okay, well I have been going back and forth lately between a few things (privately), so to a lot of people... I just don't exist. But, I started co-creating a few maps with people and found that AoSes (1 of the maps I was in the process of making heroes for) and a the majority of types of games today on BNET are rather... well how do I say this? Unsatisfying sounds like it will work nicely.

I begin to think about the types of maps, each individually and well I found some elements that I thought would be rather nice to include in a map.

I initially thought that a well-made turn-based RPG map would be rather nice (With actual graphics instead of those ones in the majority of the RPGs out there right now); however, RPGs are usually pointless leveling or a story line which you really only want to do once. I sort of wanted to create a map with an actual history or story line behind it, but those get boring if they are pre-determined.

I want to create a map that people would want to play over and over again, except whenever they become stronger, it actually leads to a definite victory. So, the thought of a hero arena or somethim similar came to my mind. The problem with most hero arenas though is that one player becomes dominate by choosing the same build (or hero) over and over and wins. That doesn't sound very fun to me. So the element of competitiveness is also something I wanted to create in a map.

Right now, this is starting to sound like an AoS with deep lore and heavy graphics as well as fast-paced action. But AoSes are over done. The thing I usually like about them though is that each unit has a different role. There is a versatility that each player can adapt to to partially satisfy their gaming thirst.

So, so far I have the elements that I really like out of these three maps are:
-Lore/History
-Definition of Victory
-Graphics
-Competition
-Versatility

That sounds like it would make a nice map, but my question is, how do you include ALL this into a map, without making it boring or unoriginal?

AoSes has a decent amount of versatility, competition (on the majority of them), graphics (not all), and definition of victory (I hope), but they really lack a lore or history (If they have history then they usually end up being overcomplicated) and there are way too many of them.

Any ideas on how to involve ALL these qualities of these games but still have a fun and original map?

The simple answer here is to just be creative. How do you be creative? It's pretty hard. The value of ideas can range from "worthless" to "priceless", and some people actually get paid to simply think of good ideas.

The best advice I can give you is to not think about it. Just go on with your daily life. Do chores, play some games, go out with friends, etc. Sooner or later, you'll come across something out of the ordinary. All of a sudden, an idea pops into your head! Strange, but true.

Just don't think about it. Let it come naturally. Of course, other people here may have ideas that give faster and/or better results. I'm just telling you what works for me.

A campaign does all of that for you. But you want a BNet map so...
An open RPG is what I would suggest, but you'd have to be creative.
In any case this map will take a lot of work, no matter what kind, to implement all you want in it. Make sure you're ready to commit.
