Elven Tragedy - RPG
By Captain Griffen

Summary:
Long ago, most of the Elves departed, leaving but a few amongst men. None have been glimpsed by man since; untill now...

It is set in a seperate universe to WC. Seperate world, seperate storyline, etc.

Features:
- A brand new storyline and world to interact with.
- Multiple pathed story, branching and heading in different directions.
- Thought out plot and character development.
- Custom ability damage system.
- Off field combat system (like FF, only real time).
- Large amounts of cinematics sprewn around the place.

Team:
Captain Griffen - Triggerer, object editor, cinematic maker,

Progress:
- First cinematic level (prologue).
- Around 1/2 to 2/3 of the first map.
- About 1/3 of the spells/abilities.
- Plot around 1/3 mapped (factoring in possible outcomes, etc.).

Credits:
- JetFangInferno for Holy Bomb, Consecrate and Holy Awakening models.
- Vile for Shooting Star model.
- Miseracord for the model used for Erin.
- iNfraNe for the water model.

Misc:
- I am aware that the loading screens are blank. I have made a loading screen, but I can't get it to work on the map, despite being a 512 by 512 blp, converted from tga using image extractor 2.
- I am aware that the Erin model has no portrait, but that was the most fitting model I could find for it.

EDIT: Minor update. Added a portrait for the Erin model, and upped physical damage.

EDIT: Major update. 'Finished' off the level, fixed some bugs, slowed down text, etc.

Downloading now. For the loading screen, try making it with Magos, it's always worked for me. It's also a very simple matter to add a portrait to a model, if you wanted, I could do it.

Tried Magos, but I think I went wrong somewhere. Probably something due to me being in a slightly bad mood at the time (which idiot at blizzard decided to make it so you cannot lock the camera onto a target with no model...? Took me hours to work that one out...). Reckon you could post step by step instructions (this is actually rather annoying, since I have made ones in the past that worked...)? Would be much appreciated.

As for the offer of adding the portrait, I'll try and do it by downloading Gmax. Need to learn some basic modeling anyway.

Thanks for trying it and offering to help!

It's a good start, but it lacks some really important things:

1) Terrain needs lot of work, currently it's flat and uninteresting; add more doodads and work on your tile placement.
2) Cinematic speech goes way too fast, even I can't read it and I consider myself a pretty fast reader.
3) The plot didn't open too well in the intro cinematic, maybe it's not supposed to give out too much, but I'd atleast like to know what these creatures are and where I am.

The abilities were cool and the custom ability damage system worked like a charm, but these are not enough to make a great campaign. You need to make the big picture first first and then concetrate on the small details. Also disable units selections for cinematics, they look unprofessional and lower the atmosphere.

Yes, it does. Not got around to doodads yet, or fixing up the terrain.

I can read it, but I am an extraordinarily fast read. I'll go through and slow it down a bit.

You're not supposed to know what is going on in the intro cinematic (I presume you mean the prologue?), as the main character which you play doesn't know what is going on.

Oh, and I've started a Lore system (which goes where optional quests normally go), which gives relevent background which Erin would know (and will be updated as the game goes on with what he learns).

Very good point, will do. Though on second thought I might just disable selection circles, since they tend to look out of place anyway. See how that works.

Updated it with the new version!
