I'm talking about effects like Shadow Meld, a skill that pops into a heroes command bar whenever they are near elves... I am trying to have 4 skills, + a backpack skill + an aura skill. What skills do I need to edit to make sure their skills aren't moved around when they come under an ability effect, and what tweak will I need to do to those skills? |

You mean the ones that use slots above hero abilities? Cyclone (Neutral Hostile) and Finger of Death (Neutral Hostile) |

You can easly change the position of icons. |

Yah the one above the hero abilities line, X,2 Y,1 And I am out of slots... There are 5 free slots, I have 6 skills. I am looking for any effect skill like Shadow Meld that pop up in X,2 Y,1, which essentially shoves all the other skills over by one... I just need to know what skills will do this aside from shadow meld and how to remove this icon. |

Use attribute bonus with no bonus's, hide the icon with the data field, and trigger what you want by: Level of (the ability) > 0. |

Can I not just make it so heroes don't come under the effect of shadow meld just by standing next to a nightelf? I always found this odd anyway that a human hero would gain shadow meld just because they're near a nightelf unit. Or maybe make the skill automatic, so at night, any nightelf will just automaticly shadow meld at night when they aren't moving. The ShadowMeld skill itself doesn't seme to have ANY values that make it changeable. |

They don't. It merely appears on the UI because multiple unit types can have it. |

Yes, but I see no reason for it at all, given that the skill is automatic, whenever you stop at night, shadowmeld is automaticly cast, I see no reason for a useable icon as opposed to a passive icon on the night elf units, and why it would pass on to the Hero UI... Is there anything I can do to prevent that from happening and are there any other skills that do the samething? |

Some solutions to the problem.

well solution 1&2 are not possible for me... Soluting 3 though... Can you go into a bit more detail here? Not sure what you mean. |

Shadow meld needs an icon, because it's not an entirely passive ability. When used, it gives the unit an order not to acquire targets, but to stay hidden. Without that, shadowmeld is useless on any ranged unit. |

Hm, well Im in a bit of a pickle then... Cause Shadow Meld is obviously very important to the Night Elves... But my heroes basicly have. Backpack and Passive Aura on the third row down in the two middle slots. And their four assigned hero skills on the bottom row. What would you recommend I do if I wanted to maintain these six skills? The aura is not a hero ability its just a unit ability, you cannot gain levels in it, you just start with it as your passive aura ability and its a custom skill... I guess maybe I could hide the passive aura icon and create a new custom buff that gives you the actual effect value of the aura. Then you can just look at it on your status window... Would you say thats probably the best thing to do? Or should I tackle the backpack ability differently? But the question is, how do I use the aura without it taking up a slot of its own? The disabled spell book? |

You could merge the aura and shadowmeld. It might be hard to make to not look wierd, but... What I mean is, give the unit shadowmeld, but have it's icon and tooltip display the info about the aura, with an added comment that this "aura's" button is also used to activate shadowmeld; a sort of dual tooltip, I suppose. Add the aura itself to the unit in a disabled spellbook, so it doesn't show itself but still gives it's effect. |

I'm curious though. I can just give a hero the spell book ability right? I tried that, but it doesn't seem to allow me to put any name text or tooltip text in the spellbook skill... Is that possible? That way I can just give each hero their own unique spell book skill and put in their aura and backpack and any other additional quest learned abilities along the way... So long as I can actually add a tooltip and name... Cause so far the icon is just "missing tooltip" |
