Alittle help with max7 and materials

i was wondering, how the heck do you apply transperancy and the clay render option for max7?


with transperancy on png files im refering to. i just need to see how wings or tree leaves would look like.

also, the dam x,y,z cursor goes off(the yellow, blue, red thing, for scaling and moving etc) it just turns into a red line and i cant scale unless i want to do xy,z scaling. Iv used the reset option and used fixed installation but the proper x,y,z wont show..its it cuz of globel and work setting? cuz iv went through those and i still cant get the b*st*rd to come back.

You mean gizmos? Preferance -> Gizmos

To make the gizmo (axis tripod) display or go away just press x.

For the transparency, you just have to tweak the Opacity.

To make a clay render, use a standard material on the object(s), place a skylight in the scene, then render with Final Gather activated (for that you'll have to use mental ray; to use mental ray: from the render main pannel (F10) -> Common tab -> scroll down to Assign Renderer -> from the rollout right to Production sellect mental ray) wich can be found in the Global Illumination tab.
