Hi, I created my own race and i put the mainbuilding plus the workers in it but then when i wanted to save the map the world editor asks if i want to make the startingpositions. But i don't want to start with my own race and the normal race (Humen, Nightelf,...). If you want to help me plz make screenshots how to make it right sothat its easier for me to understand. I hope you can help me! Mfg Jonas |

ahh okey thanks. Are the triggers to make the startingposition very difficult? |

There are no triggers if you use the WE. Just place the unit of type Starting Location for a player. You should see it in the unit palette. |

yeah but i mean if i want the units instead of the normal starting position. You said that i need a trigger -then you will need to make your own custom melee triggers to adjust.- |

Nono... You can't take what I said out of context, read the whole thing. Quote:
If your races as of now are not based upon one of the other 4 races, then I highly recommend MAKING your race(s) based upon the current races to save yourself a bunch of triggers. Why remake the melee system when Blizzard already did it for you? |

Oh jeah thanks. But i have a problem ;) a created a funmap but i dont need the starting positions. How can i make it that there are no startingpositions..because they are useless. |

If you're making a melee map, you NEED starting locations. Plain and simple. Otherwise you could end up starting without a gold mine. |

you cant save a map without the players having a starting location, if you want the map to not create the starting units (1townhall 4 peasants) you need to remove that part from the "melee initializtion" trigger in your trigger editor. The starting locations also determine where the camera is when the game starts |

Seriously, as if I didn't make it clear enough. You MUST HAVE STARTING LOCATIONS for a map to even save. If you want to play your map, you must place them. Period. |

ohh okey I think that will help me. I will try it. I dont need to save the map |

Ehm... you need to save your map, unless you are giving up mapping. I think you still don't understand quite clearly: If you make a non-melee map, remove the melee triggers. One of them creates a town hall-type building for each player at the start location. Once you remove the trigger, the start locations will have only one effect - camera of each player will be looking at them when you start the game. So when you are saving your map and the editor tells you that you don't have start locations placed for all players and offers to create them for you, just accept it. If you really don't need them, you shouldn't be bothered by them. They won't affect the map. If they still bother you, press "I" in the editor and they will go away. And if you test your map and find out that the camera starts at some obscure location, either trigger a camera change at the start of the map, or move the start location of player 1 to where you prefer it to be. |

ahhh thats good yeah thanks now i understand. -edit- hm new problem ... When i delete the trigger : create starting units (for all players) The camera is not at the startposition as u said (I think i understand something wrong) and then the message appears that if you dont build a mainbuilding other player can see you. |

Did you delete the "Enfore Victory Conditions" trigger from the Melee Initilization folder? Because I THINK thats what fixes it. I don't know for sure. |
