Does shock wave not do damage when targeting a region?

I have an enemy who occasionally shockwaves certain regions , although I don't take any damage even if I'm standing in that region or in the path of the shockwave itself... Is this normal? I though shockwave was purley AOE and the target didn't matter.
Cause this is a problem and will pretty much destroy the idea of most of my boss fights if aoe spells like shockwave wont damage you if the boss is targeting a region, as my boss fights AOE attacks were going to heavily be based on targeting regions in the boss area.

If I make him shockwave position of the hero, it'll do damage but then the attack is entirly undodgable, and I want spells like carrion swarm and shock wave to be dodgeable, hence the need to target regions and other objects... But if the hero is in the line of fire or that targeted region, I want them to take damage or my boss fights are not going to work.

When you say "target a region", what exactly do you mean? Shockwave CANNOT target a region, it can only target a point. That point may of course be a random location in a region etc, but you cannot cast a shockwave on "a region".

Well thats exactly what he is doing, target a point which is often the "center of a region" and the spell does indeed go off and cast, but the hero does not take damage in the region or if the hero is in the line of fire.


This is the trigger I am using, and graphically it works fine, but damage wise it doesn't seem to work, and nearly ALL aoe spells use "order unit to target a point"

If I shockwave the ground with my hero and it passes through an enemy, they take damage everytime... So when the boss shockwaves the ground, which happens to be a region in this case, and the shock wave passes through the hero, why does the hero not get hirt...

Ok, not as bad as I thought, it does effect the hero if they are standing in the region, but how come the spell doesn't hurt them if they are in the line of fire of the spell just outside the region, should it not still hurt them?

Check the radius, damage, targeting, and area fields of the shockwave ability your unit has.
It's possible they dont hit certain units, dont deal damage at high levels, cant hit the area, etc.

Also check to make sure that it's not hitting other units and using up all its "damage points" before it reaches the hero.

Shockwave has 9999999 maximum damage. Unless you change it.

Like i said, check to make sure that isn't happening. I accidenatally changed it to 9 once and i spent a good half-hour trying to work out why my shockwave spell wasn't doing any damage.
