-Saga of Varimos- THE LAST HOURS (AoS) Faq:
Q: Isn't you mod (Saga of Varimos) an RPG and a Campaign ? A: Yes it is, but this AoS is a collection of heroes, stories, and some events, from the Mod. Q: Uhm, are you aware that you are not going anywhere with this map, I mean, I'm just gonna say DotA ! A: Yes, I am. I play DotA too, but this has nothing to do with "taking DotA out of it's throne" Q: Well, ok. Is it simmilar to DotA? A: Hmm, you will deside, the only thing this map and DotA are sharing are the modes/commands, (-ar, -ap, -sm,..), and heroes cost 250 gold and 5 food :P Q: Did you use the "DotA Tamplate" from SD_Ryoko A: Yes, I have used some good features from it, the modes/commands from the Answer above. Q: So, it is simmilar to DotA! A: -_-' Q: Don't give me that look, ok ok,.. why does it make different from DotA? A: Well, lots of thing. Creeps, terrain, 5 lanes, the whole game concept, items, heroes, divine beings, and things like that. Q: Do you buy your Hero Skills? A: No. Q: Does the map have Tomes? A: No. Q: Does it have neutral Creeps? A: Yes. Q: Does it have uber pwnage, flashy looking spells. A: Yes and No. Q: How come? A: Yes for, it does have LOTS of triggered and flashy spells (About 80% of all spells). No for, there are still noraml abilites, but you won't see 1 same skills/spell in 2 heroes. Q: Heroes huh? How many? A: Currently there are 46. 44 are finished, 1 needs an Ultimate, and one needs every kind of work. Q:46? Hmm, nice for begining. What is the playing curve? How are the skill sets going. A: Well almoast same as in DotA. 3 normal skills with 4 levels, 1 ultimate with 3 levels. Each hero (beside 2), will have attribute bonuses (designated for their role), the current max level is 21, but it's not permanent. Q: So it still is simmilar to DotA: A: -_-" Q: So you said the map has 5 lanes, does that mean it has 5 players on both teams. A: Yes. Q: Wait don't tell me, the fight is going on betwen the Scourge and the Sentinel ? A: No, but it's still betwen good and evil dudes. Q: More info? A: The Good Dudes = The Last Defenders, The Bad Dudes = The Corrupton. Q: Are the sturctures different? A: Yes and No. Q: Elaborate that. A: I'll just say, Ancient Protector & Corrupted Ancient Portector. Q: Ah,... Any screenshots? A: Yup,.. posting em now! Q: When it will be done, at least the first (demo/beta/alpha) version? A: I hope and try to finish it before 1st September. (the school starts) Q: Will you update the map? A: If required yes! Q: Does it have cheats? A: HELL NO! Q: Does it have AI? A: No, and I won't make it, becouse I don't have the time. Q: Does it have anything unique? A: I am making a uber stat system. When you type -stats, a whloe record will show up. Ex: -Games played: 9 -Total Hero Kills: 113 -Total Deaths: 128 -Total Creep Kills: 517 -Total Towers Destroyed: 10 -Total Victories: 6 -Total Defeats (or games left): 3 But you will need to play on the same PC and Account xD (wich is really sad)! Q: Do you need help with the map? A: Well, I need suggestions, a very few skin/icon requests (1 done), and beta testers. AND I NEED HELP WITH MULTIBOARDS (SCOREBOARDS), I SUCK AT CREATING LARGE ONES. Freak, one of the crucial point of every aos (every game for that matter) is the BALANCE. Now, you can't expect to balance 46 heroes. Nope. Never. No wai. |

I think you cant just claim its a clone of DotA and call it a day. You can take the AoS genre and do nothing to it but make all new heros with crazy new stuff and the map dynamic becomes something completely different. Maybe it's just how negative the connotation of the word 'cloning' is, but I think no AoS map save a literal EXACT copy of DotA could ever be classified a clone. Sure it's an AoS, but DotA was not the first nor is it the best. You can consider DotA the most well-known, but that in itself does nothing for it. Personally I'd like to try the map, it sounds like a nice derivation from the norm. Is there a playable version of it we can try? Or do we have to settle with your FAQ for now? :D |

Looking good :-) How long until a beta version? was posting same time as above:-) Id like to see this playable version if you would allow me. See what the heroes are like etc. |

So you have a stats system that works across several individual sessions? My initial impression is that this can only be done with a save/load code, right? |

Yes, you can. You can't use game cache though as you cannot save it on Battle.net. |

I have to say that a mapmaker that doesn't even know that gamecache can't be saved between maps on b.net is not someone I expect a good map from. |
