Decided to finally get off my ass and learn how to do some proper 3D Modelzorz. Played around with the tuts and stuff before making this, simple, looks kinda nice, gave me something to do for 20 minutes or so.

Hafta see if i can successfully get the little bugger into WCIII

Oh, and it's just over 500 polies.

target weld some more, you can have the same result with far less polygons of you try.

The shape looks ok.

Not good for warcraft3 model and 500 poly for a so simple shape, i think it's too much, you can optimize it and try to deal with the warcraft3 unit style.

At the moment i'm doing what's known (to me) as a "Default Shoot"

What that means is i make a basic X (in this case, model.) I get said model working in WCIII, animations, particles, lights ect, i can then refer back to the model when things go wrong in the future. The Default Shoot also tells me that when something goes wrong in the future, it's the models' fault, not the tools fault.

I kinda liked the shape, the slanted faces give it a sort of 'stealth fighter' appearance. Which is why i posted it.

Not bad for a first attempt. Use more target welding in order to reduce the poly's, also I spotted at least one N-gon (a polygon with more than 4 sides to it). Warcraft III doesn't like them too much.

Also, about what other people were saying, he never declared what the model was for, please STOP saying it doesn't suit the War3 style... it's a fecking space aged fighter jet type thing, OF COURSE IT DOESN'T SUIT! Polygon count doesn't matter too much either, computers have improved, all units can have them jacked up a fair amount before the game lags, Blizzard were very cautious when making their models.

Where's the N gon? I can't see any.

Btw, i'm having some issues getting this thing to animate properly, i've got the anims, particles, ribbons ect done, but it refuses to export them as seperate anims despite all my attempts in following the art tools instructions. If anyone who knows how to do this has AIM or MSN, could you post here? Some real-time help would be much more useful.

im guessing your using 3ds max or gmax or something like that >.> you have to define sequences..im not sure how you do that with those programs or if you can just do it in the .mdl if you used those programs...im guessing you can but i have no idea.

I'm using 3DS Max 5, and the problem is that i AM defining the sequences, i set up the note track, i make the keys, and then i hit preview and the previewer complains it can't find a note track.
