If you import a model into your map and give it a custom path equal to some existing model in the game then it should replace that model on units that use it correct? Well I took a MalfurionNoStag removed the hero glow using Magos' War3 Model Editor and saved it as a new mdx/mdl. I imported it into my map and set my Archdruid unit to use the model and it worked sort of OK except it had no portrait and also some of the units had weird flashing black textures but some looked fine. I figured the regular Malfurion portrait would work fine so I reasoned that if I simply set the custom path of the imported model to Units\NightElf\Malfurion\MalfurionNoStag.mdx that it would use the no glow version in the game view and still use Malfurion's portrait. But when I did that it got the glow back. What am I doing wrong? |

try renaming the MalfurionNoStag.mdx part but keep the path and change the model on the unit, i dont know if it works but it is worth a try. |

What? Change the file name but leave the folders the same? Well I tried it just for kicks, but no luck. Actually now whatever I try I just get an invisible unit (just the shadow appears where they are). I don't know what I've done, maybe I will start over again tomorrow but I gotta sleep right now. |

If it's totally invisible, it probably means that the game can't load a texture. What did you do to remove the glow? |

Just for kicks RDZ, would what i suggested work? |

Probably not, since it appears to be a model-based flaw. In fact, perhaps Moss didn't refresh the editor in the first place? |

You dont have to refresh the editor, it just helps sometimes... |

Yes you do, especially when replacing in-game models. |

as long as the models havent been placed then its fine, because i upload models and change them all the time without closing WE... |

Considering the model didn't appear to load (the first time), then it's quite probable that this was the initial problem. |

I simply deleted the geoset using Magos' War3 Model Editor. You need to restart the World Editor?? I think I tried that once, but I figured that the game and the editor were seperate and the fact that the game was loading afresh would be good enough. |

Hmm, sounds like you should be fine. You're saying the glow is appearing in-game again? Sounds like it could just be you haven't pathed him quite right... Not sure about that. |

I'm pretty sure I pathed it right, cuz when I select the path from the Custom dropdown menu and hit OK it changes to Malfurion(No Stag) in the object editor. |

Very odd. You working on a map that's inside a campaign, by any chance? |

No, I was just trying it on a blank new map. I guess I will try doing it again, starting from exporting the model from the MPQ. Maybe I screwed something up along the way. Alternatively I could try making my own portrait camera but I am not quite sure how to do that and the Malfurion portrait model is better. |
