Alrighty, i intend to use the IK Anim exporter to see if i can animate my Automaton model, i've rigged the model up with bones, and now i want to know how to make the verts connect to the bones.

The 3DSM tut tells me to use the skin and flex modifiers, can i use those with the anim exporter or do i need to do something else? if something else, what?

I intend to, as soon as i remake the hands, giving him a thumb and fingers is far harder than it's worth.

If you use 3ds max 5, you don't have to use the skin modifier, just link the model chuncks (arm, forearm, etc,) to their respective bones. You'll have to detatch pieces of your model for that.

Then you get holes in the model when stuff moves around.

u need to select all the pieces of the mesh then go to "User property editor" at utilities tab and select the "conected" option at the end.

aye, that must be done. but you must have the mesh bits attached seamlessly to each other at frame 0.

Ok, with IK animation stuff, how do i get rotation?

I've rigged my guy up and everything, now i want him to rotate at the chest, leaving his feet planted on the ground, i can get the chest to move around, but i can't get him to just rotate from the hips, which is annoying.
