Newbie: "new" hero created, but game no longer works as melee?!

Hello all

Hope I'm posting in the right place. I recently started to play with worldeditor. I managed to create a "new" hero (using all the stuff already done in the game) and almost everything is ok.

The hero works!

The problem is that the game no longer works as a melee map due to the custom content. Any clue or direction on how can I make the melee game triggers be effective again (i.e. one hero per tech tier, etc)?

thanks,

Fernando.

Don't delete the melee triggers. If you already have done, put them back in on a map init event.

There are several changes, that wreck the melee status of the map.
When you save the game for the first time, you'll see a list. I believe the changes are also listed somewhere near map properities or somewhere there...

I don't think the melee triggers stop working once the map is no longer considered one. It would seem logical, but why would that stop a trigger? If the triggers are still in there, I beleive that there won't be an issue. I could be wrong, I don't work with melee maps, since 90% of my maps are custom.

The triggers wont be removed.
Unless you remove them yourself.
If you have havent, open a new map, copy the trigger, close the newish map, and paste them into your map.
When it says "This map is no longer considered meele"
That just means you wont get the meele icon next to the map when you select a custom game in Wc3, and something to do with player start location which i dont quite remember.

about that, you created a new hero. did you also add it to the list in the gameplay constants?

Techtree - Dependency Equivalents - Hero

you find gameplay constants under Advanced in the WE main menu.

Hmmm... I believe I didn't do it. Thank you! I'll try it.

Yes, it dropped that messager to me. I checked the triggers to see if they're active, and they are. Still, I can create a second hero without upgrading the Tree of Life.

Also, according to what you said, the start locations no longer respects the team settings.

Is there any way to make the map work 100% as a melee map via triggers? I don't mind if I just don't get the melee icon.

Thanks!

PS: I still have to check oNDIzZ tips.

I would really like to help, but i'v never really tested/used custom meele.
The only thing i could suggest, is making a trigger that runs at Map init and creates the neccersary units that would normally be their when the game starts, check which player is which race etc.
And about the teams, i think thats in the meele trigger, but it requires a standard meele game to be active, im not too sure sorry.

Good news: it worked, I can only do one hero per tier again!

Bad news: I can have all three of the heroes as the new one. I'll try to learn how to set this up later. :D

I'm still trying to figure out the friend/foe start position priorities yet, too.

Thanks!

Fernando.
