hihi, well I've never done any modelling and animation before, but I have just started :D. Basically, I have a VERY simple model I want to try animating, but I just can't get my head around any tutorials. They all either have wording I can't understand, tell me to get certain programmes then give duff links, tell me to use things I never heard of before, ROFL. Can someone please give a quick, plain english explanation of how to actually animate my model, or link me to a good tutorial which is incredibly noob friendly? I have figured out how to attach bones to my model, I think, and they seem to work fine. All I want to do is have a circle which will move back and forth across a backboard (like a blip on a radar kind of thing) And with a smaller circle which will orbit this circle as it moves. Oh and I am using GMAX, the free one, lol Thankies and rep for anyone who can take the time to help me here, I'm fed of looking through tutorials I don't understand ![]() |

You realy disgust me with your use of language. I modified the thread title a bit, because it was pathetic. You should learn more about how to search http://www.oregon-coast.net/Tutorial...KeyFrame01.htm |

Well, if animation in Gmax is virtually the same as 3DsMax5, I can give you some pointers. So if someone can tell me how similar the two are, I can see if I'd be of any help. |

Before starting, keep in mind that the exporter scripts are buggy and incomplete. There's an high chance that the exporting will fail or cause model bugs. |

Last time I checked, on ebay there's nothing but books related to max 5. Finding 3ds max 5 now is like finding Jimmy Hoffa. |

Jimmy hoffa must be on my computer too! You just need to have some nice Czech accuaintences, who have the skills to get it. |

OK, thnx TDR, that tutorial helped me get started atlast. One thing though, when I set a point for my blip to move to during the animation, it moves there fine, but on return it overshoots it's original point by miles , anyone know what I'm doing wrong? P.S Sorry my english offends you so badly, lol. EDIT: OK, nvm I have managed to do it properly now, so how do I export my model and also set the animation to a stand animation? |

I don't know if gmax has a dope sheet editor, but I think it must have (you'll find it in the Graph Editors menu; if it isn't there then I don't know), but if it has then it would be best and more simple to download the art tools and read the documentation about the delimitation of animations, for I supposed it's the same if you export from gmax. Or the exporter (I don't know exporters for gmax) may have a list in wich you type the animation ranges. |
