What the hell is it with DOTA?

Why does EVERYONE play DOTA? I've played it many times and yeah its an Aeon of Strife type of game and its fun, but why are there 12 DOTA's always on the custom games list? Is there something I am missing? I mean every good map has its phase - I remember when Tome Hunter used to be like 90% of the list, same as Spellcraft and all that. But DOTA remains, and i ask you people WHY?

Anways, the answer is simple. Simple minded noobs need a simple minded game to use up their time. Try hosting a dota. It will in seconds. Now try playing a dota and not having a leaver. The chances are 0. Dota is so damn popular because it requires no thought, its always there to play, and nobody is hosting any of the kick ass maps on this site!

There is one single reason DotA is being played more than other maps: It is the standard and it has been the standard for years. As long as it is updated it remains the standard.

Got it? Standard. People just play it. Same as with Footman Frenzy. People play what they are used to.

Pardon if I sounded rude, I was a little pissed at the time, I wasn;t thinking. I meant like the bad DotAs that are being pumped out. I don't mean DotA in general is bad, it's just (from what i've heard) been going downhill from it's true glory days.

And THAT answer was so pathetically stupid that I will forever remeber your name as the person who can't accept that not everyone likes DotA, and has to go around bashing those who don't, and refuses to accept the cold, hard truth that DotA has gone downhill into the pit of vicious noobs who have given the map its terrible reputation.

Yep. I think someone should add to the rules: "Do not talk about DotA", or something like that...

Probably its hosted publicly because people like owning noobs who dont know how to play DotA. Dunno why they picked DotA over Footman Frenzy or whatever, but thats what they picked.

I did not express ANY of my sentiments towards DotA. Do I like DotA? Do I hate it? You don't know, because I haven't said anything about it.

The only thing I disapproved was how you felt it was fruitful to create a post explaining that DotA is popular because the people that play it are noobs that can't think. Because that was pretty much the entire content of that post.

Post thoughtful and meaningful opinions and no one has the right to scorn you, but garbage like that deserves nothing better.

I should have been more specific here. DotA SEEMS popular becuase MANY mindless noobs (not everyone who plays is a mindless noob) host it and try to pwnzr everyone so they can get the satisfaction they want. Not EVERYONE is a mindless noob who plays it. Look at The)TideHunter(. He tells me hes a DotA addict, and hes not mindless. I wasn't thinking clearly, as i said i was pissed off.
