Hey Guys, A few weeks ago, a friend of mine launched forums for a community we are trying to build. I won't tell you the address or name, as this post is not meant to be advertisment. The question I have, is how to get a forum active? Currently, we have over 130 members and yet I see maybe 20 of them post. What can I do to encourage these people to start posting? There are lots of topics about different things. There is also a fair amount of activity from the actual active members. Any help would be appreciated. Much Thanks. PS: Wrong section? Perhaps please move where it belongs. Note, this "community," is for a map so it could be considered Gen Dev? |

i'm afraid there really isn't much you can do. my friend has a site for a long time now. he has ~10 uber members with 1000+ posts, about ~50 with 100+ and the rest are either around 10 or 0 - came, registered, left. nothing he tried really helped - free music, a lot of interesting topics and other content etc. he also has adverts on a lot of popular sites, but as i said - nothing really helps. unless you have a site about something unique it wont be really successful i'm afraid. you could however try adding some fancy content like flash games etc. that only work if you have made 5 posts or so. but to be honest i've never seen a site about a map that actually has a lot members/posts... well if we exclude the really popular ones at least (dota...) |
