OK, I have just finished making my first custom model. It is very basic, and now I would like to know how to go about skinning it. As far as I know, there are no tutorials around here on the subject. I know it has something to do with unwrapping the UVW right? Anyway, I am using GMAX to make the model, so any help or links to tutorials would be great |

no, never skin it before you uv or you'll have shit on your plate. uvwrap. screenshot and then draw over the wire lines to skin it. |

Yea never skin first, cause if the wrapping messes up the skin..its a lose. But test it out without doing major skinning and then work off it. There used to be a thing about unwrapping but its not here..sorry cant help ya there..ask Mc! about unwrapping |

You could also use an already existing texture template to make a proper uvw, chances are that your first uvmapping will be really bad, so it would be better if you take an already made texture, lets say the footman texture for example, and uvmap your model using that. |
