Here's a painting I did (mostly) at Jenny Dolfen's watercolour workshop, that took place in Aachen, Germany, on the 5th an 6th of this month. I finished it a few days ago at home in France. That's my very first serious watercolour! ^^

And here's my second one. Well, I titled it "mythical encounter". It's some kind of illustration related to a story I'm working on. The celtic hunter (named Dhen'Er) faces Cernunos, the White Stag, a celtic god. Wheee.

Thank you for viewing =)

Look at the eyes on the first guy. They're all googly like! Well, they seem to be looking at different directions, and the eyes arent exactly level with each other either. Thats something that shoulda been noticed.

Also the spear could use buffing, its so thin!

However, the second is orgasmic.

Similar to what I said. :)

The second one is really special. You should write a fairytale with some illustrations like this supporting the text. Or a fantasy story like Narnia or something.

Watercolor is THE HARDEST material to master, I think that you are on a good beginning, because then moving to opaque pigments will be easier.

I just want to give one advice...Use more than one color to paint one color.
Watercolor must be translucent and bright. For example: To paint something blue mix red green yellow colors with blue to make good variety of color and values.
And one more thing, just like in fresco painting try not to place more than 3 layers of pigment on same spot to preserve the transparency.

Go here to see my old watercolors if you want.

Yes... Watercolor/ink wash is rather hard media to get used to. But once you get used to it, it can have some really wonderful effects.

I'd say that they need a few more layers of color. I know that when you were painting, the paint wasnt dried yet so everything look much more contrasty.. but once it dries, it gets a few shades lighter. I learned the hard way when my inkwash portrait turned 3-4 shades lighter when it dried, and i had to turn it in the next day. o.O

Not bad for a first attempt. For your next attempts, may i suggest more lighting???

I agree with CR.
Your style of your sketches uses alot of detail, but your colouring whether digi or not is very soft.
Your skill has great advantages with themes jsut like your 2nd pic.
But it would be very poor if your trying to make a dynamic scene.
But your skills are far greater than mine with your patience.

Wow, that second one is cool :D
Something, to me, just looks a little (and I mean a little) off with the way the ground goes under the man and the way he is standing. Looks like he should be on more of a slope, or my perspective could just be off. Awesome anyway :P
