WT 34 - Tranquility

09-03-2006, 03:00 PM#1
[Death]
The objective for the next couple of WTs is to create a terrain that expresses the emotion shown in the title.
For example, this WT. You have to make a terrain that expresses tranquility.

The lack of images is a result of different views of how the emotion is portrayed. Instead, the WTs will have a longer blurb, like this one, or two blurbs.

You also DO NOT have to terrain a scene as described in the blurb, you can terrain tranquility as you see it.

Day One Hundred and Sixty-Three. My journey had taken me nearly one hundred miles down the river over the preceding week. Today was Sunday I believe, though I was beginning to doubt the record kept on the inside cover of my journal. Sunday, May the eighteenth, perhaps, if my calculations prove correct. I seem to be drawing closer to the center of the basin.

I arose early this morning, unable to sleep, because the cacophony of the various denizens of this rainforest only grows in intensity and fervor in the night hours. I stowed my gear as usual, yet found that nearly half of my bread rations were missing. This forest has the uncanny ability to muddle a man’s mind, and so I re-inventoried the entirety of my provisions, yet still counted the bread absent. I concluded that recovery would be impossible and so resolved to continue my journey with even greater speed with the hope of passing through the basin before my food ran out.

As the day progressed, the river quickened, its sloth-like drag livening with a powerful undercurrent. Gradually, rapids began to develop, and I feared for the integrity of my canoe after the severe damage it took in the mud slicks. I hoped to Providence that my repairs would hold even as the rapids grew rougher causing my worthy vessel to shudder and shake, tossed up and down on their tugging currents. I came to a rushing line of falls, and unable to alter my course in any significant way because of my now terrific headlong speed, pulled hard on my paddle, trying to aim for a calmer passage through the vortex. It was to no avail and the I was swept under, deep into the surging waters, clinging to the sides of my canoe. I must have blacked out, because in an instant it was over.

It is quiet. The twinkling sound of water, like golden pennies on a liquid marble floor is the only sound, clear – crystal clear. The water propels me forward with certainty, calm, steady, but in constant motion. The thin air is cool and dry, delicate like a sugary breath. I am rounding a bend. The twinkling of water crescendos gently, like a white cloth lilting in the summer breeze on a clothes line. A glisteningly placid pond spreads out before me. The giant trees rocket up into the sky, like tender buttresses supporting a dome of leaves still yellow with youth that whisper voicing the passing of a cool breeze. And before me, the twinkling singer reveals herself, dancing and gliding down from a cliff high above. The sun waltzes through here, glittering on the crystal coins of the water maiden’s song like golden angels dancing up and down a ladder to heaven. And it glows warm on my face, I have never seen anything more beautiful, or felt such a comfort shoot through me. Something tugs at me - a powerful warmth and peace lifting me from my body. I close my eyes.

Is this like somekind of foresty feeling, water rushing through a stream, birds singing thang? (as in my feelings i suppose it is?)

This is a terrain I did quite a while ago, methinks it captures this theme rather nicely.

Very nice [Death], even if the cinema is about two rivals, the terrain does capture tranquility. I really like the lighting in the last one.

Here is another variation of mine.

The sitting villager is found there. The model is missing a leg, so I put the peg in it from the barrens pack.
The green bottle is a wow model.
