Nice sketch. Is that someone’s hand behind the woman? because it looks big and rough for woman’s hand. Also the image is flat. If you are making illustration, then where is sharp thin lines that define the shape? If you are making a drawing then where is value shading that defines the form? Again, don't use photo reference. because drawing from photos not improving skill but making it worse. Draw from real life, and that will set hand and eye, then you will see and feel the form, measure proportions without pencil and define shape perfectly in one line. Because the photograph captures everything equally in value and distorts the form, however artist based on his knowledge must bring the important subject closer and move everything else back. Also something about where the neck connects into chest, I think clavicle is too far out from the neck, and chin looks lil bit short. Because the line of the lips is located at center of front teen, and mandible is very massive. If the head is bend so the jaw goes into perspective then the brow and the nose are not. Can you post your refrence image? |

Unlike you, some of us don't have a lot of naked ladies lying around the house to draw from life. Its a pretty nice picture, but why do you hatch your shadows so... randomly? |

In other words, don't draw what it does look like, draw what it should look like. |

Well now you have good excuse to go to centerfolds Quote:
No, you draw what you see. But every picture must have a main subject, main subject must have main point of interest or contrast in it. That is why artist delibiratly makes choose of how to bring up the main point more and ressed everything else. Fore example: Details in front will be detailed and bringts because they are imortant, details deeper in the painting/drawings shoold be saturated, bluured, and greyed. That is how it is in real life. |

It is true though that drawing from life is easyer. I must have drawn dozens of sneaky drawings of my ex when she wasnt looking or sleeping. I dont like it when the subject i'm drawing knows i'm drawing it, unless its a professional model. It creeps me the fuck out, the way they look at you... *shrug* |

If you are thinking about their creepy look then you will never make a good drawing, instead of that get fascinated with your image get "possessed" by it, if you will, and think about how to make image perfect. If you really wanted to draw then creepy looks wouldn’t bother you, but you don’t want to draw, and creepy look is a good excuse. |

They usually agree and then I don't wanna show them the picture to their discontent. Anyways rarely have the opportunity to go draw from life when I get the motivation I'm in my room or I just don't have pencils and paper, meh excuses... I'm lazy. The hatching is something I like about your style but you overabused it here (mostly on the hair). The hand does seem too manly and it appears to me her chin is too short and her nose is too straight (ew). But I find the picture appealing overall. |
